Usage Features

The manual provides clear, step-by-step instructions for various operations:

  • Jump Starting:

    • Use an auxiliary battery of similar or slightly higher capacity.
    • Connect positive terminals of both batteries with a jump lead.
    • Connect the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery to an earth point on the engine or gearbox of the car to be started (NEVER to the negative pole A of the vehicle battery).
    • Start the engine.
    • Remove leads in reverse order once the engine starts.
    • Important: Never jump start by pushing, towing, or driving downhill.
  • Fuel Cut-off Reactivation:

    • After a collision, turn the ignition key to STOP.
    • Check for fuel leaks.
    • Follow a specific sequence of ignition key turns and direction indicator activations: MAR-ON, right indicator (activate/deactivate), left indicator (activate/deactivate), right indicator (activate/deactivate), left indicator (activate/deactivate), STOP.
  • Sun Roof Emergency Closure:

    • Remove protective cap A from its housing in the internal covering.
    • Take the Allen key from the tool box or glove compartment.
    • Fit the wrench into seat A and turn clockwise to open, anticlockwise to close.
  • Tailgate Emergency Opening:

    • Remove rear head restraints and fully fold seats.
    • Remove protective cap and release the lock using a screwdriver or metal insert.
  • Robotised Gearbox - Engagement of Neutral:

    • Ensure parking brake is engaged.
    • With ignition key at MAR-ON, the gearbox should automatically shift to neutral. If not, a persistent acoustic/visual signal may occur.
    • Important: Do not tow the vehicle if it hasn't shifted to neutral; lift the front wheels instead.
    • Procedure for jump starting (to engage neutral):
      • Supply vehicle with a charged emergency battery.
      • Check that vehicle system is supplied (panel lights not dimmed).
      • Press brake pedal, turn key to MAR-ON.
      • Wait five seconds, turn key to STOP.
      • Check if vehicle is in neutral by pushing it.
  • Vehicle Towing/Lifting:

    • Towing Attachment Points: The tow hook is in the tool box under the luggage compartment mat. Release bumper cap A, take tow hook B, and fully screw it onto the threaded front or rear pin.
    • General Warnings for Towing:
      • Ensure tow hook is fully tightened; clean threaded seat.
      • Turn ignition key to ON, then to OFF, and DO NOT EXTRACT IT.
      • Steering lock engages if key is removed, making steering impossible.
      • Brake servo and electric power steering are unavailable; greater force needed for braking/steering.
      • Avoid flexible cables and jerky movements.
      • Ensure trailer hitch doesn't damage components.
      • Do not start engine while towing.
      • Warning: Tow with manual gearbox in neutral or robotised gearbox in N. If battery is flat or gearbox issues, follow "Robotised gearbox - engagement of Neutral" procedure. Failure to comply can cause severe gearbox damage.
    • Vehicle Lifting Points: Only place portable jack or workshop lift mountings in the specified areas shown in the figure.

Maintenance Features

The manual implicitly supports maintenance by providing:

  • Fuse and Relay Information: Detailed lists help in diagnosing and replacing faulty electrical components.
