CONNECTING
THE
AMPLIFIER
CAUTION:

Do
not
plug
the
power
cord
into
an
AC
wall
outlet
until
after
all
connections
have
been
made.

Be
sure
to
make
the
correct
connections,
paying
attention
to
the
L
(left
channel)
and
R
(right
channel),
and
(+)
and
(—)
marks.
Plug
in
the
cables
and
connect
the
lead
wires
securely
because
loose
connections
will
result
in
unsatis-
factory
sound
reproduction
or
cause
noise
problems,

This
model
has
been
set
previously
to
the
power
line
for
220
V,
however
it
is
switchable
to
110
V
by
the
switch
on
rear
panel.

INPUT
connections
@
PHONO
(Connecting
a
turntable)
Connect
the
output
cables
of
a
turntable
(with
magnetic
cartridge)
to
the
jacks
marked
PHONO
INPUT.
The
upper
INPUT
jack
is
for
the
L
(left)
channel
and
the
lower
one
for
the
R
(right)
channel.
Be
sure
to
make
the
correct
connections.
The
ground
wire
of
the
turntable
should
be
connected
to
the
terminal
marked
GND
below
the
PHONO
INPUT
jacks
on
the
amplifier.
NOTE:
(a)
In
some
rare
instances
involving
particular
types
of
turntables
and
cartridges,
the
use
of
a
ground
wire
may
cause
a
noise
problem.
Should
this
be
the
case,
do
not
make
this
ground
connection.
(b)
There
are
various
types
of
cartridges
for
turntables.
They
may
differ
in
output
voltage
and
impedance.

tuner)
Connect
the
output
cables
of
the
system
tuner
to
the
jacks
marked
JUNER
INPUT,
matching
the
L
(left)
and
R
(right)

AUX
The
AUX
INPUT
jacks
are
spare
input
jacks
for
use
when
_
connecting
an
8-track
tape
player
or
a
second
system
tuner.

TAPE-1
&
TAPE-2
(Connecting
a
tape
deck)
There
are
two
sets
of
tape
jacks
on
the
rear
panel.
These
are
marked
TAPE-1
and
TAPE-2,
for
connections
to
tape
decks.
Be
sure
to
make
correct
connections,
taking
note
of
the
REC,
PB,
L
and
R
marks.
REC
jacks
(tape
recording
jacks)
Connect
these
jacks
to
the
LINE
INPUT
jacks
on
the
system
tape
deck
for
making
tape
recordings.
PB
jacks
(playback
jacks)
Make
a
connection
between
PB
and
LINE
OUTPUT
of
the
system
tape
deck
for
playing
tapes.

When
two
tape
decks
are
connected
to
this
amplifier,

each
at
TAPE-1
and
TAPE-2,
tape
dubbing
can
be
performed
readily
from
one
to
the
other.

GROUND
(GND)
This
terminal
is
provided
for
a
connection
to
the
system
turntable
and
system
tuner.
.
SPEAKERS
(Connecting
speaker
systems)
Eight
terminals
are
provided
for
two
speaker
systems
SYSTEM-A
and
SYSTEM-B.
If
one
pair
of
speakers
is
used,
use
SYSTEM-A
speaker
terminals.
Connect
the
left
channel
speaker
system
to
the
speaker
terminals
marked
L
and
place
it
to
the
left
of
the
amplifier
as
seen
from
the
listening
position
and
right
channel
speaker
system
to
the
terminals
marked
R.
Be
careful
to
observe
the
correct
polarity
of
the
speaker
connection.
The
(+)
and-(—)
terminals
of
speakers
must
match
the
(+)
and
(—)
terminals
of
the
amplifier.
(Use
two-color
speaker
leads
for
better
identification.)
If
the
polarity
is
not
indicated
on
the
speaker
system,
make
the
connections
and
observe
the
following:
if
the
sound
does
not
come
from
a
point
between
the
two
speakers,
and
if
bass
response
appears
insufficient,
the
speaker
connections
are
out
of
phase.
Change
the
(+)
and
(—)
connections
on
one
of
the
speakers
only.
CAUTION:
(1)
Be
careful
not
to
cause
a
short
circuit
between
the
speaker
terminals.
(2)
The
nominal
impedance
of
the
speaker
systems
to
be
used
in
combination
with
this
amplifier
is
8
ohms.
IMPORTANT:
Before
connecting
the
speaker
cords
to
the
speaker
ter-
minals,
strip
about
half
an
inch
of
insulation
from
both
ends
of
each
conductor
and
twist
the
exposed
strands
of
wire
tightly
so
that
the
wire
ends
become
easy
to
handle
and
good
contact
can
be
maintained.
Then
push
down
on
the
terminal
levers
with
your
finger.
Insert
the
speaker
wires
into
the
holes
and
release
the
levers.
.
DIN
connector
The
DIN
connector
has
the
same
function
as
the
TAPE-1
jacks
and
is
designed
for
use
when
connecting
a
tape
deck
which
has
a
socket
for
the
DIN-type
plug.
Just
one
patch
cord
with
a
DIN-type
plug
at
each
end
provides
connections
for
both
recording
and
playback
operations.

SELECTOR
THIS
UNIT
WAS
FACTORY-ADJUSTED
TO
OPERATE
ON
YOUR
LOCAL
AC
VOLTAGE
AS
INDICATED
BY
110
V
OR
220
V
OPERATION,
PROCEED
AS
FOLLOWS:
(1)
First,
disconnect
the
power
plug
from
the
AC
wall
outlet.
(2)
Remove
the
screw
of
the
guide
board
and
slide
the
switch
to
the
other
setting.
(3)
Secure
the
guide
board
with
the
other
screw
after
turning
it
in
the
opposite
direction.
;
NEVER
LOOSEN
THE
GUIDE
BOARD
SCREW
AND
OTHER
SCREW
AT
SAME
TIME.
