Overview

The Flamingo Multifunctional Filter Sturgeon is an internal aquarium filter designed to maintain water quality through a multi-stage filtration system. It is suitable for use in aquariums, providing mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration.

Function Description

The filter operates by drawing water through a series of filtration media. The primary function is to remove physical impurities, harmful chemicals, and provide a habitat for beneficial bacteria, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for aquatic life. The filter cartridge (1) is the core component, housing various media. Water is circulated by a water pump (8), which is powered by a power supply cord (9). The filter is designed to be submerged in the aquarium, with its position adjustable using a hook (13) and suction cup (10) to accommodate different water levels.

Important Technical Specifications

The filter cartridge (1) contains several layers of filtration media:

  • Ceramic granule (2): Provides a large surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonize, contributing to biological filtration.
  • Activated carbon (3): Absorbs odors, discolorations, and chemical impurities from the water, performing chemical filtration.
  • Zeolite (4): Further aids in chemical filtration by removing ammonia and other harmful substances.
  • Filter sponge (5): Acts as the primary mechanical filtration, trapping larger particulate matter and preventing it from clogging other media.

The water pump (8) is responsible for circulating water through these media. The rotor unit (11) and rotor cover (12) are integral parts of the pump, ensuring efficient water flow. The power supply cord slot (7) ensures a secure connection for the power supply cord (9).

The filter is designed to operate under a rated voltage and requires a separate, well-grounded receptacle for safe operation. It is crucial to maintain the water surface above the minimum water level of the filter to prevent it from running dry, which could damage the pump.

Usage Features

Assembly:

  1. Unpack the filter and inspect it for any visible damage.
  2. Ensure the filter cartridge (1) and water pump (8) are correctly assembled as shown in picture 1. The cartridge fixing bracket (6) must be fully inserted into the casing, and the filter cartridge should be securely placed within this bracket. The hook (13) should be installed at the back of the body, with its position adjustable to match the aquarium's water level.
  3. Hang the filter in the appropriate position within the aquarium. Use the suction cup (10) to secure the filter to the aquarium surface, as illustrated in picture 2. It is vital to ensure that the water level in the aquarium is not below the filter's minimum water level, as indicated in picture 2.
  4. Connect the filter to the power supply.

Safety Instructions:

  • Operate the appliance at the rated voltage and use a grounded receptacle.
  • Regularly add water to keep the water surface above the filter's minimum water level.
  • Discontinue use if the power cord or plug is damaged or aged, if the filter malfunctions, or if it shows any abnormal signs. Contact your local retailer if necessary.
  • Always disconnect the filter from the power supply before installation, cleaning, or maintenance to prevent electric shocks.
  • Never allow the filter to run dry.

Maintenance Features

To ensure optimal performance and efficiency, regular maintenance is required:

Routine Cleaning (Every two weeks):

  1. Disconnect the filter from the power supply.
  2. Remove the filter from the aquarium.
  3. Open the filter cartridge (1) and empty any dirty water.
  4. Wash the filtration chamber and the filter cartridge (1) thoroughly with running water.
  5. If the filter cartridge (1) is blocked, it should be cleaned or replaced immediately to prevent a significant drop in filtration efficiency.

Deep Cleaning (Every three months):

  1. Remove the cartridge fixing bracket (6).
  2. Detach the water pump (8) from the bracket.
  3. Remove the impeller cover (part of 12) and take out the rotor assembly (11).
  4. Thoroughly wash all components of the filter, including the rotor assembly (11) and water chamber, with running water.
  5. Reassemble all parts as shown in picture 1.

Reminder:

Always ensure the power supply cord (9) is securely inserted into the power supply cord slot (7).
