5.2 Electric plant
Rescue boats with hand started outboard engine:
These rescue boats have no electric plant installed. They have a battery
powered all-round light, a search light with own battery and the compass is
illuminated by cyalume light sticks.
Rescue boats with electric started outboard engine (Fig. 13a and 13b):
These boats are equipped with one starter battery (1) which is located either in
front or inside the steering stand to start the outboard engine. This battery
feeds also the electric consumers. If the electric start fails, the outboard engine
can be started manually.
The electric system is a 12 V DC.
For the wiring scheme refer to “Rescue boat documentation”.

Rescue boat RR 4.2 with inboard diesel:
These boats are equipped with two batteries, which are placed at both sides of
the engine (Fig. 14). Therefore a battery change-over control is fitted. The
battery change-over control is attached at the steering stand (Fig. 15).
The system will be activated with the battery switch (1): switch EITHER to
“BATT. 1” OR “BATT. 2” to keep the second battery as spare.
Position “BOTH” switches both batteries together for combined power: use
ONLY if one battery alone is not strong enough to start the engine.
