Testing (continued)
SYMPTOM :
Flow displayed when zero flow.
Is flow tube empty?
Fill with liquid
Insert EMD link
Excessive noise on signal cable.
Check screening and earthing, look for
loose wires, poor insulation, shorts
between any wires/screens.
Increase % cut off if unable to eliminate
noise completely.
SYMPTOM :
Flow rate always reads zero.
Is flow direction arrow on the
flowtube facing forward?
Reverse field coil wires
No coil current!
Check coil resistance and wiring to
flowtube. Look for loose wires, poor
insulation, shorts between any
wires/screens.
In run mode press ‘^’ key for raw flow
value.
Check signal converter program setup data.
In the event that system data is corrupted
factory default values are installed. This can
be confirmed by checking that the ID is
100mm. Re-enter the system data via the
menus.
Is there flow through the meter?
Check signal cable wiring.
Disconnect wires from the screen
terminals of signal converter. Test
insulation between wires SCR1-GND,
SCR2-GND
Check signal converter with calibrator.
Does converter calibrate?
Test the flowtube.
Establish a flow.
Signal cable has fault.
Screens are driven at signal potential
and must be insulated from ground.
Repair / replace cable. Look for loose
wires, poor insulation, shorts between any
wires/screens.
Signal converter defective!
Return for repair.
