  To address a FoodSaver vacuum pump running without evacuating the bag, ensure the open end of the bag is correctly placed inside the vacuum channel. Also, check for any wrinkles along the sealing strip and gently stretch the bag flat upon insertion. Verify the gaskets are properly inserted and free of foreign objects, dirt, or debris. Ensure the accessory hose is detached from the accessory port and the lid is fully latched. If the latch doesn't secure the lid, it may cause a leak. If you're using a roll, ensure one end of the bag is sealed. If the latch has been left closed, unlatch it and allow 10 to 20 minutes for the gaskets to expand.

Alternatively, the latch may have been left closed, compressing the gaskets; unlatch it and wait 10-20 minutes for them to expand. It can also mean that the vacuum pump has been running for more than 120 seconds. In this case, the appliance will shut off automatically and the red light will flash.
