Why is the vacuum pump running but not evacuating air from the bag in my FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance?
    • H

If you're making a bag from a roll, ensure one end is sealed. Adjust the bag and try again, making sure the open end is down inside the Drip Tray. Check for wrinkles in the bag along the Sealing Strip; gently stretch the bag flat while inserting it into the Drip Tray to prevent wrinkles. Open the unit and ensure Gaskets are inserted properly, with no foreign objects, dirt, or debris on the Upper or Lower Gasket. If the Latch has been left in the Operate position, the Gaskets may be compressed; turn the Latch to the Open or Store position and allow 10 to 20 minutes for the Gaskets to expand. Make sure the Lid is latched down all the way; if the Latch doesn't catch the Lid and bring it down, there will be a leak between the Gaskets.

Why is my FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance container not vacuuming?
    • D
      Darryl MossAug 18, 2025
The Lid of the Container must be correctly placed on and aligned to the Container. Make sure you press the Handheld Button. Ensure the Lid is closed securely on all 4 sides. Check that the rubber gasket on the inside of the Lid is free from food residues. Examine the rim of the Container for cracks or scratches and make sure the Container Valve is clean.

How to fix a FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance bag that is not sealing properly?
    • A
      Allison JonesAug 21, 2025
If there is too much liquid in the bag, freeze it before vacuuming with your FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance. Check for food debris around the seal area; if present, take out the Gasket, clean it, and re-insert it into the Vacuum Channel. If the bag has wrinkles, gently stretch it flat while inserting it into the Vacuum Channel (Drip Tray) to prevent wrinkles in the seal.

Why does air re-enter FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance bags after vacuuming?
    • M
      mooredennisAug 26, 2025
Examine the seal of the FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance bag. A wrinkle along the seal may cause air to re-enter. To prevent wrinkles, gently stretch the bag flat while inserting it into the Drip Tray. Sometimes moisture or food material along the seal prevents proper sealing. Cut the bag open, wipe the top inside, and reseal. Sharp food items may have punctured the bag, so use a new bag or cover sharp items with a soft cushioning material before resealing. Fermentation or the release of natural gases may have occurred, in which case the food may have spoiled and should be discarded. Finally, the bag itself could be faulty or punctured, so try another bag.

What to do if the Seal LED is flashing on my FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance?
    • E
      etaylorAug 28, 2025
The Seal LED flashing on your FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance indicates that the unit is overheated. Always allow 20 seconds between seals. If under heavy usage, the appliance will shut off automatically, and the Seal Light will flash. In this case, wait 20 minutes for the unit to cool off. It can also mean that the latch has been left in the Operate position, which may compress the gaskets. Turn the Latch to the Open or Store position and allow 10 to 20 minutes for Gaskets to expand. Also, if the Vacuum Pump runs for more than 120 seconds, the Seal Light will flash. Finally, the latch may have been left in the On position for 5 minutes reminding user to turn Latch to Open or Store position.

    • K
      Kelly WhiteAug 31, 2025
The sealing strip on your FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance may have become too hot. Always wait at least 20 seconds for the appliance to cool down before vacuum sealing another item. It is also recommended to use FoodSaver® brand bags, as they are specially designed for FoodSaver® units.

What to do if I cannot insert a bag into my FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance?
    • G
      Glenn CarrilloSep 12, 2025
Make sure there is enough bag material to reach the center of the Drip Tray on your FoodSaver Kitchen Appliance. Always allow 3 inches (7.62 cm) extra space to allow the bag to seal tightly around the food contents. Gently stretch the bag flat while inserting. Insert the bag curl down into the Drip Tray.
