If your Ford Portable Generator engine won't start, possible causes include the ON/OFF switch being set to “OFF” (turn it to “ON”), a dirty air filter (replace it), a clogged fuel filter (clean or replace it), stale fuel (replace it), the spark plug wire disconnected (reconnect it), a bad spark plug (replace it), water in the fuel (drain the tank and replace the fuel), the fuel valve in the “OFF” position (turn it to “ON”), over choking (turn off choke), low oil level (fill to the proper level and place the generator on a level surface), a rich fuel mixture, an intake valve stuck open or closed, loss of engine compression, a dead battery (recharge or replace it), or the engine being flooded (wait 5 minutes and recrank).
