      Steven ButlerAug 18, 2025
If the engine of your Ford Portable Generator will not start, shuts down during operation, or starts and runs rough, make sure the switch is in the “ON” position. Other solutions include replacing the air filter, cleaning or replacing the fuel filter, or replacing the fuel. Also, ensure the spark plug wire is connected and the spark plug is in good condition. If none of these work, drain the fuel tank and replace the fuel. Check that the fuel valve is in the “ON” position and turn off the choke. Ensure the crankcase has the proper oil level and that the generator is on a level surface. In some cases, you may need to recharge or replace the battery, or wait 5 minutes before recranking the engine. If problems persist, contact the service department.
