Overview

The Fox Micron MX is a sophisticated bite alarm designed for anglers, featuring a weatherproof sealed case and digital circuitry for reliable performance in various conditions. Its core function is to alert anglers to fish activity through visual and auditory signals, enhancing the fishing experience.

Usage Features:

The device incorporates several user-friendly features to optimize its functionality. It is equipped with a high-visibility 4mm LED and a multi-colour (x6) LED system, allowing users to select from red, green, blue, orange, purple, and white. This multi-colour LED can be cycled through by simply pushing a rubber button on the MX heads. An on/off toggle switch provides straightforward control over the unit's power, with a push-down to activate and a push-up to deactivate. The unit does not emit a beep when switched on or off.

For sensitivity control, the Micron MX offers dual-step sensitivity, indicated by Stage 1 and Stage 2 settings. This allows anglers to adjust the alarm's responsiveness to different fishing conditions or bite types. The device also features indexed ergonomic volume and tone controls. These knobs can be turned clockwise to increase settings and anti-clockwise to lower them, offering eight different volume and tone settings for personalized alerts. A high-quality piezo speaker ensures clear auditory signals.

The Micron MX is designed with a D-Tec™ Sensing System (DTSS) for accurate bite detection and a CNC machined rollerwheel with Tru-Run™ technology, ensuring smooth and reliable line movement detection. It also includes a power out socket (2.5mm) that allows Fox Illuminated Bite Indicators to be powered directly from the Micron. These indicators will light up when the Micron is activated and latch for approximately 20 seconds, providing an additional visual cue. Rubber socket seals are crucial for maintaining the unit's weatherproof integrity when the sockets are not in use.

The device features a rigid 3/8" SS thread for secure attachment to fishing rods. Its compatibility extends to the Fox MX receiver, allowing up to four MX Microns to be used simultaneously with one receiver, thanks to an advanced transmitter device capable of long distances. It is important to note that this device is not compatible with existing Fox receivers or extension boxes.

Maintenance Features:

Battery management is a key aspect of the Micron MX's maintenance. The unit requires two LR03 AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries. Users are advised to use good quality batteries for maximum battery life and to reduce the risk of leakage. It is crucial not to mix old and new batteries, different battery types, or use rechargeable batteries. If the volume or LED performance noticeably decreases, it's time to change the batteries. For long periods of non-use, batteries should be removed from the Micron.

Fitting the batteries involves turning off the unit, unscrewing two battery cover screws with a cross-head screwdriver, pulling a tab upwards from the top of the battery cover, and carefully removing the old batteries. New batteries should be inserted with correct polarity. For optimal weatherproofing, the battery cover must be firmly pushed into the bottom edge of the case and pivoted into position before re-fitting the screws. A warning advises against over-tightening the battery compartment screws to prevent damage to the screw threads.

The Micron MX also incorporates a low battery warning system. When the batteries are low, the multi-colour LEDs will automatically change to a cyan (green-blue) colour. They will remain this colour until new batteries are inserted, at which point the LED colour will revert to the last chosen colour. The device does not provide an audible low battery warning.

Despite being designed to be weatherproof, proper drying out after use in heavy rain is essential. Users should bring the unit indoors and remove the hard case cover to allow it to dry properly. It is important never to place batteries in a hot environment, such as on a radiator.

The manual also includes important warnings: users should not trigger the LED or speaker in close proximity to human or animal eyes and ears, store the equipment out of reach of children and infants, and avoid dropping or subjecting the Micron to severe impacts.
