Function Description
The Franke FBI 522 XS LED0 and FBI 722 XS LED0 extractor hoods are designed exclusively for domestic use to eliminate kitchen smells and cooking vapours. They operate by drawing air through a duct system, which can be configured for exhaust or recirculation. The hoods feature a motor with adjustable speeds and an integrated lighting system to illuminate the cooking area.
Important Technical Specifications
- Minimum Safety Distance: The minimum safety distance between the cooker top and the extractor hood is 650 mm. If the gas hob's installation instructions specify a greater distance, that must be respected. Some models may be installed at a lower height, as detailed in the working dimensions and installation section.
- Duct Diameter: The extractor should be connected to the exhaust flue using a pipe with a minimum diameter of 120 mm. The flue route should be as short as possible.
- Electrical Connection: The appliance is Class I, requiring adequate earthing. Mains voltage must correspond to the rating plate inside the hood. Disconnection means must be incorporated into the fixed wiring according to wiring rules.
- Negative Pressure: When used with non-electrical appliances (e.g., gas burning appliances), the negative pressure in the room must not exceed 0.04 mbar to prevent exhaust gases from being drawn back into the room.
- Air Discharge: Air must not be discharged into a flue used for exhausting combustion fumes from gas or other fuel-burning appliances.
- Lighting: The lighting system uses LED technology. For replacement, contact technical support.
Usage Features
The extractor hood offers three operating speeds to suit different cooking needs:
- Low Speed (1): Suitable for continuous and silent air change in the presence of light cooking vapour. This speed is ideal for maintaining a quiet environment while cooking with minimal steam.
- Medium Speed (2): Recommended for most operating conditions, providing an optimal balance between treated air flow and noise level. This speed is versatile for everyday cooking.
- Maximum Speed (3): Designed for eliminating the highest cooking vapour emissions, including those generated during prolonged cooking periods.
The hood also features a separate control for the lighting system, allowing users to switch the lights on and off independently of the extractor motor.
Safety Precautions during Use:
- Never use the hood for purposes other than those for which it was designed.
- Do not leave high naked flames under the hood when it is in operation.
- Adjust flame intensity to direct it onto the bottom of the pan only, ensuring it does not engulf the sides.
- Deep fat fryers must be continuously monitored during use, as overheated oil can burst into flames.
- Do not flambé under the range hood due to the risk of fire.
- Do not look directly at the light through optical devices (binoculars, magnifying glasses).
- Ensure adequate ventilation in the room when the range hood is used simultaneously with gas or other fuel-burning appliances (not applicable to appliances that only discharge air back into the room).
- Accessible parts may become hot when cooking appliances are in use.
- Children aged 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, can use the appliance if supervised and instructed on safe use and associated hazards. Children should not play with the appliance, and user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.
Maintenance Features
The extractor hood requires regular cleaning and filter replacement to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Grease Filters (Z): These filters must be cleaned every 2 months of operation, or more frequently with heavy usage. They are dishwasher-safe. Regular cleaning prevents grease buildup, which can pose a fire hazard.
- Activated Charcoal Filters (H, W): These filters are not washable or regenerable. They must be replaced approximately every 2 months (H) or every 4 months (W) for models with sponge-like filters, or more frequently with intense usage. The sponge-like filter (W) can be washed in a dishwasher up to 5 times before needing replacement. These filters are crucial for recirculating air and removing odours when the hood is not vented externally.
- Hood Cleaning: The hood's external surfaces should be cleaned using a damp cloth and a neutral liquid detergent. This helps maintain the appliance's appearance and hygiene.
Disposal:
The product or its packaging bears a symbol indicating that it should not be treated as household waste. Instead, it must be handed over to an applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Proper disposal helps prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and human health.
