The chassis-loweringfeature on thefront axle
makes enteringand exiting thevehicle easier.
The chassis-loweringfeature on thefront axle
is only available when:
R
thevehicle is stationary
R
theengineisrunning
R
there is sufficient reservoir pressure in the
compressed-air system
If you open thedriver'sorco-driver'sdoor,the
chassis is lowered on thefront axle.
The chassis is raised to thedriving levelauto-
maticallyifyou:
R
cancel thelowering procedure
R
close thedriver'sorco-driver'sdoor
R
set thevehicle in motion
R
switch off theengine
Activating or deactivating thechassis-
lowering feature on thefront axle

To activate: pressthe upper sectionofthe
¶ button.
Indicatorlamp in the ¶ buttonlightsup.

To deactivate: pressthe lower sectionof
the ¶ button.
The indicator lamp in the ¶ buttongoes
out.
Canceling thechassis-lowering proce-
dure on thefront axle
You can cancel thelowering procedure and
restore thedriving levelusingthe STOP and
driving levelbuttons on theinstrumentpanel.

Press the ¤ or Ø button.
The chassis frame is raised to thepreviously
set driving level.

WARNING
If you switch off theignition while driving,
safety-relevantfunctionsare only available
withlimitations,ornot at all. This can affect
thepower steering and thebrakeboosting
effect,for example.You will require consid-
erably moreeffort to steer and brake. There
is ariskofanaccident.
Do notswitch off theignition while driving.

WARNING
The parking brakemay notbesufficient to
secure thevehicle on uphill and downhill
gradients.Aloaded vehicle or avehicle with
atrailer/semitrailermay roll away. Thereis
ariskofanaccident.
In thecontrol position, check whether the
braking force of theparking brakealoneis
sufficient to hold thecompletevehicle.
Secure thetractor vehicle and trailer/semi-
trailer withthe parking brakeand also with
chocksasstandard.

If you distributethe load unevenly in the
vehicle,the handlingaswell as thesteering
and braking characteristicsare severely
affected. Thereisariskofanaccident.
Distributethe load evenly in thevehicle.
Secure theload to preventitfromslipping.
The vehicle's driving,braking and steering
characteristicsvarywiththe type,weightand
centreofgravity of theload.
