models and standard and optional equipment
of your vehicle that were available at the time
of going to print.Country-specific deviations
are possible. Bear in mind that your vehicle
may not be equipped with all the functions
described. This also applies to safety-relevant

Occupant safety
Introduction to the restraint system
The restraint system can reduce the risk of
vehicle occupants comingintocontact with
parts of the vehicle'sinterior in the eventofan
accident.
The various components of the restraint sys-
tem work complementary to one another. They
can only performtheir intended protective
function if all vehicle occupants:

have correctly fastened their seat belt
(Y page 36)
R
have correctly adjusted their seat
(Y page 45)
As the driver, you must also ensure that the
steering wheel is correctly adjusted. Observe
the information relatingtothe correct driver's
seat position (Y page 45).

children (Y page 37).
Important safetynotes

WARNING
Modifications to the restraint system may
cause it to no longer work as intended. The
restraint system may then not performits
intended protective function and may fail in
an accidentortrigger unexpectedly, for
example. This poses an increased risk of
injury or even fatal injury.
Never modify parts of the restraint system.
Never tamper with the wiring, the electronic
components or their software.

restraint system for aperson with physical dis-
abilities, contact an authorized Freightliner

Seat belts
Introduction
Acorrectly fastened seat belt is the most
effective means of limitingthe movement of a
vehicle occupant during acollision.This
reduces the risk of vehicle occupants coming
intocontact with parts of the vehicle interior
or being ejected from it.
If the seat belt is pulled quickly or suddenly
from the belt outlet,the inertia reel locks. The
belt strap cannot be pulled out further.
Important safetynotes
The use of seat belts and child restraint sys-
tems is required by law in:
R
all 50 states
R
the US territories
R
the District of Columbia
R
all Canadian provinces
Even where this is not required by law, all vehi-
cle occupants should correctly fastentheir
seat belts before starting the journey.
The seat belts fulfill the requirements set out
in the Federal Motor Vehicle SafetyStandard
209.

WARNING
If the seat belt is not worn correctly, it can-
not performits intended protective function.
An incorrectly fastened seat belt can also
cause injuries, for example, in the eventof
an accidentorwhen brakingorchanging
direction abruptly. This poses an increased
risk of injury or even fatal injury.
Always ensure that all vehicle occupants
have their seat belts fastened correctly and
are sitting properly.
