Useful information
These Operating Instructionsdescribe all the
models and standard and optional equipment
of your vehicle that were available at the time
of going to print.Country-specific deviations
are possible. Bear in mind that your vehicle
may not be equipped with all the functions
described. This also applies to safety-relevant
systemsand functions.

WARNING
If you operate information systemsand com-
munication equipment integrated in the
vehicle while driving, you will be distracted
from traffic conditions. You could also lose
controlofthe vehicle. There is arisk of an
accident.
Only operate the equipment when the traffic
situationpermits. If you are not sure that
this is possible, park the vehicle paying
attention to traffic conditionsand operate
the equipment when the vehicle is station-
ary.

If the instrumentcluster has failed or mal-
functioned, you may not recognizefunction
restrictions in systemsrelevanttosafety.
The operatingsafetyofyour vehicle may be
impaired. There is arisk of an accident.
Pull over as soon as it is safe to do so and
consult aqualified specialist workshop.
You should therefore make sure your vehicle is
operatingsafely at all times.Otherwise, you
could cause an accidentbydrivinganunsafe
vehicle. If your vehicle is not operatingsafely,
stop immediately, paying attention to the road
and traffic conditions.
Observethe legal requirements for the country
you are currently in while operatingthe instru-
ment cluster.
Rev counter
!
If you exceed the maximum permissible
enginespeed, the warningtonesounds.
You should not drive and change gear by the
sound of the engine, but according to the
enginespeed shown in the rev counter.
Avoid drivinginthe red overrevvingrange.
This could lead to enginedamage.

large screen)

If the W indicator lamp in the instrument
cluster lights up, the enginespeed is too high,
e.g. if you select alow gear when shifting
down. Observefurther information in the event
window of the on-board computer.

General notes on the rev counter:

Observethe rev counter while drivingand
stay within economical speed range :.
In some situations, it may make sense to
operate the engineoutside economical
enginespeed range :,e.g. on uphill gradi-
entsorwhen overtaking.

If you drive the vehicle within economical
enginespeed range :,you achieve low fuel
consumption and reduced wear.

In enginebrakingmode, use yellow engine
speed range ;.The highest enginebraking
effectwill be achieved just before red over-
revving range =.
