Overview

This document is a Use & Care Manual for a Frigidaire Dishwasher, providing comprehensive information on its operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description:

The Frigidaire Dishwasher is designed to clean dishes, pots, pans, and silverware by spraying a mixture of hot water and detergent against soiled surfaces. It employs a Direct Feed Wash System with energy-efficient motors for both washing and draining. The cleaning process involves multiple water fills and drains, with soil particles filtered and pumped out. The dishwasher utilizes DishSense™ Technology, which automatically adjusts the cycle length based on the food soil load detected on the dishes. It offers various wash cycles and options to accommodate different soil levels and user preferences, aiming for optimal cleaning and drying performance while being energy efficient.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Electrical Requirements: Operates on regular house current (120V, 60Hz). Requires a dedicated 15-ampere fuse or circuit breaker. A 20-ampere fuse is needed if connected with a food disposer. Must be electrically grounded.
  • Water Pressure: Hot water line to the dishwasher must provide water pressure between 20 and 120 psi.
  • Water Temperature: Incoming hot water temperature should be at least 120°F (49°C) for satisfactory wash and dry results.
  • Sanitize Option: When selected, the final rinse water temperature is raised to 155°F (68°C) and maintained for 9 minutes, meeting NSF requirements for sanitization in Heavy and Normal Cycles.
  • Wash Temp Options:
    • Normal: Default temperature option.
    • Hi-Temp Wash: Heats main wash water to approximately 140°F (60°C) and increases final rinse temperature to aid drying and detergent effectiveness.
  • Water Usage (approximate, varies by cycle):
    • Heavy Cycle: 7.0 - 7.9 gal (26.6 - 29.9 liters)
    • Normal Cycle: 2.9 - 7.3 gal (11.0 - 27.7 liters)
    • China Crystal Cycle: 5.7 gal (21.5 liters)
    • Energy Saver Cycle: 4.4 - 7.9 gal (16.5 - 29.7 liters)
    • Rinse Only Cycle: 2.0 gal (7.6 liters)
  • Cycle Times (approximate, varies by options):
    • Heavy Cycle: 2 ¼ - 3 ¼ hours
    • Normal Cycle: 2 - 3 ¼ hours
    • China Crystal Cycle: 1 ¼ hours
    • Energy Saver Cycle: 1 ¼ - 1 ¾ hours
    • Rinse Only Cycle: ¼ hour
  • Warranty: One-year limited warranty on the appliance. Lifetime limited warranty on the stainless tub and door liner. Two to five-year limited warranty on dishwasher racks and electronic control module.

Usage Features:

  • Cycle Selections: Includes Heavy, Normal, China Crystal, Energy Saver, and Rinse Only cycles.
  • Option Selections:
    • Wash Pressure: Defaults to "surge" pressure, with a "spray" option available for some cycles.
    • Wash Temp: Allows selection of Normal, Hi-Temp Wash, or Sanitize.
    • Heat Dry: Enhances drying performance, available on all cycles.
    • Air Dry: Reduces hot rinse temperature, slightly decreasing energy usage but potentially increasing drying time.
    • Delay Start: Allows delaying the start of a cycle from 1-24 hours.
  • Child Lock Controls: Prevents accidental changes to cycles or starting the dishwasher by locking the controls.
  • Status Window: Displays information such as delay start hours, remaining cycle minutes, door status ("Close"), and Rinse Aid dosage level (LO-L6). Also indicates "Clean" and "Sanitized" status.
  • User Instruction Codes: Provides feedback for common issues like "Close" (door open) and "PF" (power failure).
  • Error Codes: Displays specific codes (e.g., i10, i20, i30, i50, i60, iCO) to indicate detected problems like low fill, clogged filters, leaks, or motor/heating system issues, with corresponding troubleshooting solutions.
  • Loading Flexibility:
    • Upper Rack: Designed for cups, glasses, stemware, small plates, and bowls. Long-handled knives and utensils can also be placed here.
    • Bottom Rack: Best for plates, saucers, bowls, and cookware. Large items should be placed along the edge.
    • Silverware Basket: Designed for various silverware, with suggested loading patterns to prevent nesting. Some models have covered sections for small items.
    • Cutlery Tray (model-dependent): For flatware and cooking utensils, with separators to improve cleaning.
  • Detergent Dispenser: Features a main wash cup for detergent or detergent tablets.
  • Rinse Aid Dispenser: Automatically releases rinse aid during the last rinse to improve drying and reduce spots/filming. Adjustable dosage (LO-L6).
  • Adding an Article: Allows adding or removing items after a cycle starts by unlatching the door, waiting for wash action to stop, and then resuming the cycle.

Maintenance Features:

  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe with a mild nonabrasive detergent and water, then rinse and dry.
  • Drain Air Gap Care: If installed, check and clean the drain air gap to ensure proper drainage (not part of the dishwasher, not covered by warranty).
  • Filter Cleaning:
    • Cylinder Fine Filter: Designed to collect large items (broken glass, bones, pits). Needs regular cleaning by rotating counterclockwise, lifting out, rinsing under running water, and using a sponge or bottle brush if necessary.
    • Coarse Filter: Located at the bottom of the tub, removed after the Cylinder Fine Filter, and flushed under running water.
  • Removing Spots and Film: Instructions provided for cleaning lime deposit buildup and spots/film using white vinegar and a specific cycle sequence.
  • Winterizing: Instructions for disconnecting and draining the dishwasher to protect it from freezing in unheated places, and for restoring service.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: Comprehensive list of common issues and solutions, including food soils left on dishes, dishes not dry, glassware/flatware spotted or cloudy, water in the bottom of the tub, stained/discolored dishware, long cycle times, and unusual sounds.
