Overview

The Fuego Element Gas Grill, available in models F21C-H and F21S-H, is a portable outdoor cooking appliance designed for social connectedness and efficient grilling. It is the brainchild of industrial designer Robert Brunner, known for his modernist re-think on old-fashioned grilling. The grill is designed to allow the host to entertain from the center of the party while friends gather around.

Function Description:

The Fuego Element Gas Grill is a gas-powered outdoor cooking appliance used for grilling food. It features a patented dual-zone burner system, offering versatile cooking control. Zone 1 is dedicated to indirect cooking at 15,000 BTU/HR, ideal for items like ribs, roasts, large cuts of meat, and hot dogs, where food is placed in the center of the grill away from direct heat for more even and slower cooking. Zone 2 engages both burners for direct cooking at 21,000 BTU/HR, suitable for direct grilling of foods such as burgers, pizza, poultry, and seafood. The grill is designed for quick heating, reaching 500°F in as little as five minutes and a maximum temperature of 650°F, ensuring searing heat while optimizing fuel consumption.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning: The barbecue should be thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis.
  • Gas Leak Testing: A complete gas tightness check must be performed at the installation site and periodically, or immediately if gas odor is detected. This involves applying a soap solution to connections; bubbles indicate a leak.
  • Burner Inspection and Cleaning:
    • Flame Height Check: Users should inspect the flame pattern (tips occasionally flicker yellow, light blue, dark blue) to ensure correct air and gas mixture.
    • Ventilation Opening Check: Ensure burner tube ventilation openings are not blocked by dirt, debris, or spider webs.
    • Exterior Cleaning: Use a wire brush for the exterior and a metal scraper for stubborn scale.
    • Clogged Ports: Clear with a straightened paper clip; avoid wooden toothpicks.
    • Burner Inlet Inspection: Use a flashlight to check for blockages; use a straightened metal wire coat hanger for obstructions.
    • Venture Tubes: Check and clean for insects and nests to prevent fires.
  • Orifice Cleaning: Remove the orifice and use a needle to clear any debris, being careful not to enlarge the hole or break the needle. Proper re-attachment and centering of the burner on the orifice are crucial to prevent fire hazards.
  • Igniter Tip Cleaning: Clean off cooking residue from the igniter tip and burner edge with fine-grit sandpaper. The igniter tip should be 2-4 mm from the burner edge for effective ignition.
  • Residue Tray Cleaning: Can be washed by hand with standard dish soap and water.
  • Surface Cleaning: Wipe down with a clean cotton or microfiber cloth to remove cooking residue. Stainless steel surfaces should be cleaned with a stainless steel cleaner and polished.
  • Firebowl Cleaning: Step-by-step instructions are available on the Fuego website (www.fuegoliving.com).
  • Cast Iron Grate Care:
    • Preheating: Preheat on high for 5-10 minutes to ensure an even hot surface for grilling.
    • Cleaning After Grilling: Turn the burner on high for 5-10 minutes to burn away food debris/grease. After cooling, brush with a wire brush. For stubborn residue, scrub with a mixture of salt and vegetable oil, rinse with hot water, and dry completely over low heat before storing.
  • Hose and Regulator Assembly: Inspect for cuts, wear, or abrasion before use and replace if damaged. Replacement parts must be specified by the manufacturer.
