Overview

This document serves as the Operating Manual for the FUJITSU INVERTER Heat & Cool (Reverse Cycle) Room Air Conditioner, specifically for wall-mounted types. It covers both the Indoor Unit (ASTB18LDC) and the Outdoor Unit (AOTS18LDC). The manual emphasizes safety precautions, operational procedures, and maintenance guidelines to ensure efficient and safe use of the air conditioner.

Function Description

The FUJITSU INVERTER air conditioner is designed to provide both heating and cooling for a room, utilizing a reverse cycle system. Its inverter technology allows for rapid attainment of the desired room temperature, followed by a switch to a low-power setting for economic and comfortable operation, maintaining a constant temperature.

The unit features an AUTO CHANGEOVER mode, which automatically switches between cooling, dry, and heating operations to maintain the set temperature. This ensures the room temperature remains constant without manual intervention.

For enhanced air quality, the air conditioner includes an AIR CLEANING MODE that purifies the air in the room. This mode relies on the unit's power to effectively remove dirt, dust, cigarette smoke, and pollen. An ELECTRONIC AIR CLEAN FILTER is integrated into the dust collection unit, using electrical power to charge the filter, remove contaminants, collect dust, and reduce odors and bacterial activity.

The SWING OPERATION feature automatically moves the Air Flow Direction Louvers up and down, ensuring that conditioned air reaches every part of the room. This helps in achieving uniform temperature distribution.

For quieter operation, the SUPER QUIET OPERATION mode reduces the indoor unit's airflow, making it ideal for use during sleep or in environments where low noise is preferred.

The air conditioner also incorporates a COIL DRY OPERATION function. This feature allows the indoor unit to be dried after use, preventing mold growth and inhibiting bacterial breeding, thus contributing to a cleaner and healthier indoor environment.

Usage Features

The air conditioner is controlled via a WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL UNIT, offering convenient operation from a distance of about 7 meters. The remote control allows users to select various modes, adjust temperature, fan speed, and set timers.

Mode Selection: Users can choose between AUTO, COOL, DRY, HEAT, and FAN modes using the MASTER CONTROL button. Temperature Setting: The SET TEMP. buttons allow precise adjustment of the thermostat setting within specified ranges for each mode (e.g., 18 to 30 °C for Cooling/Dry). Fan Speed Control: The FAN CONTROL button cycles through AUTO, HIGH, MED, LOW, and QUIET fan speeds. In AUTO mode, the fan speed adjusts optimally for heating or cooling, while in FAN mode, it runs at a low speed to circulate air. Air Flow Direction: Vertical airflow can be adjusted using the SET button on the remote control, offering different ranges for cooling/dry, heating, and fan modes. Horizontal airflow is adjusted manually by moving the Right-Left louvers.

Timer Operations:

* **ON Timer/OFF Timer:** Allows users to program the unit to start or stop at a specific time.
* **PROGRAM TIMER:** Integrates OFF timer and ON timer operations into a single sequence, enabling the unit to turn off and then turn on (or vice versa) within a 24-hour period.
* **SLEEP TIMER:** Automatically modifies the thermostat setting during sleep to prevent excessive warming or cooling. In heating mode, the thermostat setting is gradually lowered, and in cooling/dry mode, it is gradually raised, before the unit automatically turns off after the set time.

MANUAL AUTO OPERATION: In cases where the remote control is unavailable, the unit can be operated directly from the main unit control panel, defaulting to AUTO mode with standard fan speed and thermostat setting.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the air conditioner's performance and longevity. The manual provides detailed instructions for cleaning various components.

Removable Open Panel: The indoor unit's Open Panel can be easily removed, facilitating access for cleaning and maintenance.

Cleaning the Intake Grille:

1. The Intake Grille can be removed by lifting it forward from its lower ends and opening it wide until it becomes horizontal.
2. It should be cleaned with water, removing dust with a vacuum cleaner or by wiping with warm water and a soft cloth, then dried thoroughly.
3. Reinstallation involves aligning mounting shafts and pressing the grille into place.

Cleaning the Air Filter:

1. The air filter is accessed by opening the Intake Grille. Its handle is lifted, and two lower tabs are disconnected to pull it out.
2. Dust can be removed with a vacuum cleaner or by washing the filter in a solution of mild detergent and warm water. It must be dried thoroughly in a shaded place before reinstallation.
3. The filter should be cleaned every two weeks during normal use to prevent reduced airflow, operating efficiency, and increased noise.

Cleaning the Plasma Air Cleaning Filter (Dust Collection Unit):

1. The dust collection unit is removed by securely grasping its handle and pulling it out after opening the intake grille and removing the right air filter.
2. The air cleaning & deodorizing filter is then removed from the cleaning unit by opening the filter case.
3. The plasma filter unit should be soaked in warm water (40-45°C) for 10-15 minutes. For very dirty filters, a diluted mild synthetic laundry detergent can be used. It should be gently moved up and down, rinsed with clean water, shaken to drain water, and dried completely in the shade.
4. The manual warns against disassembling the unit, using hot water, abrasive items, or inserting brushes inside, as these can cause damage.
5. The AIR CLEAN Indicator Lamp (green) flashes slowly after approximately 400 hours of use, indicating that maintenance is required. After 500 hours, it flashes quickly, and air cleaning ceases until maintenance is performed.
6. The air cleaning & deodorizing filter should be changed approximately every 2 years to ensure good performance, provided it is cleaned every six months. Only authorized filters (UTR-FA14) should be used.

Coil Dry Operation: This function helps dry the indoor unit's coil, preventing mold and bacteria. It runs for 30 minutes and stops automatically.

Safety Precautions: The manual stresses the importance of disconnecting power before cleaning, ensuring secure installation of filters and grilles, and avoiding contact with the heat exchanger to prevent injury. It also advises against using harsh cleansers or volatile agents on the unit's body.
