Security functions
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) (device-dependent)
TPMTrustedPlatform Module
To use the TPM, you must activat e the TPM in the BIOS Setup befo re the software
is installed. The condition for this is that you have assigned at least the supervisor
password (see "
Securit y functions", Page 49).
Instructions on how to call up and use the BIOS Setup Util ity can be found in
section "
Settings in BIO S Setup Utility", Page 63.
Enabling TPM
Requirement: You have set a supervisor password, see "Security funct ions", Page 49.
Call up the BIOS Setup a
nd select the Security menu.
Mark the TPM (Security Chip) Setting eld and press the Enter key
Select the "Security
Chip" "Enabled" entry to activate the TPM
Once you have activated the TPM through a reboot, the Clear Security Chip menu option appears.
With Clear Securit
yChip, y ou can delete the owner in the TPM, if the TPM has already
been used. With Ena
bled, all secret ke ys generated by applications (e .g. SRK - Storage
Root Keys, AIK - At
testation Identity Keys, e tc.) are deleted.
Please note that y
ou will then no longer be able to access the data you have
encrypted wi th t
he keys based on that holder.
Select the Exit S
aving Changes option in the Exit menu.
Press the Enter key and se lect Yes.
The notebook w
ill restart, and TPM will be enabled after the reboot.
Disabling TPM
Requirement: You have set a supervisor password, see "Security functions", Page 49.
Call up the BIOS Se tup and select the Security menu.
Mark the TPM (Security Ch ip) Setting eld and press the Enter key.
Select the "Security Chip" "Disabled" en try to deac tiva te the TPM
From the Exit menu, choose the option Exit Saving Changes.
Press the Enter key and se lect Yes.
Your notebook will now restart and TPM will be disabled.
