Overview

This document serves as an installation manual for Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs), specifically models UTZ-BD025C, UTZ-BD035C, UTZ-BD050C, UTZ-BD080C, and UTZ-BD100C. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, safety precautions, operational guidelines, and maintenance considerations.

Function Description

The Energy Recovery Ventilators are designed to provide fresh air while recovering energy from the exhaust air. This process involves exchanging heat and, in some models, humidity between the incoming fresh air and the outgoing stale air, thereby reducing the energy load on the building's heating and cooling systems. The units are intended for installation in ceiling spaces, with ductwork connecting to outside air intake, exhaust air discharge, room air intake, and supply air to the room. The system includes a heat exchange element, filters, fans, and dampers to control airflow and facilitate energy recovery.

Applicable Duct Nominal Diameter:

  • UTZ-BD025C: φ150
  • UTZ-BD035C, UTZ-BD050C: φ200
  • UTZ-BD080C, UTZ-BD100C: φ250

Ceiling Space A (Unit: mm):

  • UTZ-BD025C: 320
  • UTZ-BD035C, UTZ-BD050C: 370
  • UTZ-BD080C, UTZ-BD100C: 440

Heat Exchange Elements:

  • UTZ-BD025C, UTZ-BD035C, UTZ-BD050C: Two heat exchange elements.
  • UTZ-BD080C, UTZ-BD100C: Four heat exchange elements.

Capacitor Specifications:

  • UTZ-BD025C: 2.0 µF 450VAC
  • UTZ-BD035C: 3.5 µF 450VAC
  • UTZ-BD050C: 6.0 µF 450VAC
  • UTZ-BD080C, UTZ-BD100C: 10.0 µF 450VAC

Power Source: 220-240V~, 50Hz. Cable for supply cord: VVF cable with φ1.6 or φ2. Cable for connecting main unit and remote controller: 300V/500V, 60227IEC10 (hard wire), cross-section area for each core wire is 1.5mm².

Use Conditions:

  • Outdoor air conditions: Temperature range -10°C~40°C, relative humidity 85% or less.
  • Indoor air conditions: Temperature range -10°C~40°C, relative humidity 85% or less.
  • Installation requirements: Same as indoor air conditions. Indoor air refers to air in air-conditioned living rooms. Use in refrigerators or other places where temperature can fluctuate greatly is prohibited, even if a temperature range is acceptable.
  • Example Indoor air conditions: During cooling period: Temperature 27°C, relative humidity 50%. During heating period: Temperature 20°C, relative humidity 40%.
  • Use the ERVs in ambient temperatures of 40°C or less. Operating in atmospheres above 40°C for extended periods may cause deterioration, deformation, or damage to resin parts.

Usage Features

The ERVs offer flexible operation modes and airflow settings:

  • Function Select Switch: Allows selection between "Energy Recovery" and "Normal Ventilation" modes.
  • Air Flow Switch: Provides "High (Extra High)" and "Low" settings for airflow.
  • Damper Operation: The damper opens during Energy Recovery mode and closes during Normal Ventilation mode. For models UTZ-BD080C and UTZ-BD100C, fan motors stop during damper operation.
  • Airflow Adjustment: If a large volume of air is required or a long duct is used, the wire connection can be switched from "Low" to "Extra High" by adjusting the fan motor leads in the electrical components box.
  • Multiple Unit Operation: Up to 10 units can be operated using a single switch.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the ERVs:

  • Inspection Opening: An inspection opening of at least 450 mm must be provided in the ceiling to allow for constant cleaning and equipment checking of the filter and heat exchange element.
  • Filter and Heat Exchange Element Cleaning: These components require periodic cleaning to prevent clogging, which can degrade performance.
  • Dewing and Frosting Prevention: The manual advises heating low-temperature intake air to prevent dewing or frosting, especially in high-humidity conditions, to ensure the unit operates efficiently and prevents water damage.
  • Prohibited Installation Locations: To prevent clogging and damage, the units should not be used in bathrooms, food preparation areas, or locations with high soot and humidity.
  • Duct Insulation: Outdoor ducts (including outside air and exhaust air ducts) must be heat-insulated with glass wool (25mm thickness) to prevent dewing.
  • Electrical Safety: All electrical work and maintenance must be performed by qualified personnel, adhering to local laws and technical standards. The exclusive circuit breaker must be switched "OFF" before any wiring corrections or maintenance to prevent electric shock.
  • Pilot Running: After installation and wiring, a pilot running must be performed to check airflow conditions and damper operation, ensuring proper functionality before regular use.
