Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the Furrion 24-inch Freestanding Gas Range, available in two models: FGR24D4MA1A-BL (2023038990) and FGR24D4MA1A-SS (2023038989). It provides comprehensive information on the safe use, installation, operation, and maintenance of the appliance.

Function Description

The Furrion 24-inch Freestanding Gas Range is designed for cooking and baking using natural gas or propane. It features a cooktop with multiple burners and a gas oven. The appliance is intended for recreational vehicle use, conforming to ANSI Z21.57-2010 and CAN1-1.16-M79 standards. It includes electronic ignition for the burners and oven, and a thermostat for precise oven temperature control. An oven light is provided for visual monitoring of food during cooking.

Usage Features

  • Cooktop Operation:
    • Gas Burners: Controlled by knobs with settings from HI (maximum rate for rapid boiling) to LO (simmer or warming). Intermediate adjustments are possible. Always turn knobs to OFF when not in use.
    • Lighting Gas Burners: Push and turn the knob counter-clockwise to HI, hold for 3-5 seconds until the flame is lit by the internal igniter, then release. If lighting is difficult at HI, try LO. In case of power outage, burners can be manually lit with a match.
    • Flame Quality: Normal gas burners burn blue. Yellow tips (over 1 inch) indicate insufficient air for combustion, suggesting an air shutter adjustment may be needed. Yellow flames are abnormal and require service.
  • Oven Operation:
    • Preheating: Before first use, operate the oven at maximum temperature (500°F) to eliminate manufacturing residues. Always preheat the oven to the desired temperature before introducing food.
    • Thermostat Control: Oven temperature is regulated by a thermostat, with settings from 300°F to 500°F. The control knob indicator is used to set the desired temperature.
    • Ignition of Oven Burner: Open the oven door fully. Lightly press and turn the thermostat knob counter-clockwise to MIN, hold inward to activate electronic ignition (a "clicking" noise will be heard), and keep holding until the burner is lit. Release the knob once lit. In case of power outage, the oven burner can be manually lit with a match through opening "A" (diagram provided in manual).
    • Safety Valve: If the oven flame extinguishes for any reason, the safety valve automatically shuts off the gas supply.
    • Oven Light: A push-button on the control panel activates the oven light for visual monitoring.
    • Safety Precautions: The oven door becomes very hot during operation; keep children away. Do not cook with the control knob set to LIGHT position. Do not use oversized cookware (max 10 inches) on burners, as this can cause extreme heat buildup and damage. Never leave surface burners unattended at high heat settings.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the gas range regularly to prevent grease accumulation and potential fire hazards. Ensure exhaust fan ventilation hoods and grease filters are also kept clean.
  • Safety First: Always ensure all control knobs are in the OFF position and the cooktop and components are cooled before cleaning.
  • Oven Cleaning: Use only oven cleaners specifically designed for ovens, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Spill Cleanup: Clean spills on the gas range, cooktop, grates, or burner caps immediately after the range has cooled to prevent discoloration or staining.
  • Igniter Electrode Care: Exercise caution around burners to avoid damaging the metal igniter electrode with cleaning items.
  • Porcelain Surfaces: Allow hot porcelain surfaces to cool before cleaning to prevent cracking or burns.
  • Recommended Cleaning Solution: Mild soapy water solution for cooktop porcelain, stainless steel, painted surfaces, burner grates, and plastic items.
  • DO NOTs of Maintenance and Cleaning:
    • Do NOT use oven cleaners on any surface other than the oven.
    • Do NOT use bleach, rust removers, or abrasive/gritty/acid-type cleaners.
    • Do NOT use steel wool; use non-abrasive pads (e.g., soft side of a sponge or washcloth).
    • Do NOT block air ventilation.
    • Do NOT store flammable liquids or vapors near the range.
    • Do NOT use metallic or wire brushes to clean range oven components, as bristles can get stuck in burner ports, leading to explosion or fire.
    • Do NOT allow acidic foods (vinegar, citrus juices, tomatoes) to remain on painted porcelain, cooktop, or grates, as they can react with the paint and gloss. Clean egg spills immediately after the cooktop cools.
  • Anti-Tip Device: The range must be secured with a properly installed anti-tip device to prevent tipping. The leveling legs should be adjusted to ensure the range is level. The anti-tip bracket and front foot bracket must be reinstalled if the range is relocated.
