Do you have a question about the FXA HCM450 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the FXA HCM450 concrete mixer, a double-insulated and IP44D rated machine designed for mixing concrete, mortar, and plaster. It is not suitable for mixing flammable or explosive substances.

Technical Specifications

  • Model Number: HCM450
  • Motor: 550W S6 30%
  • Drum Capacity: 125 Liters
  • Drum Mouth: 380 mm
  • Drum Speed: 26.6 / min
  • Overall Sizes (L x W x H): 1200 mm x 710 mm x 1400 mm
  • Weight: 51 kg

Usage Features

The mixer is designed for ease of use and safety. It should always be operated on solid, flat, level ground capable of supporting its weight and load to prevent tipping. Users are advised to read and understand the owner's manual and all affixed labels before operation, familiarizing themselves with controls, applications, limitations, and potential hazards.

Safety Precautions:

  • Stay Alert: Do not operate the mixer under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. Avoid using it when tired or distracted.
  • Work Area: Ensure an adequate, clean, well-lighted workspace, free from obstructions, grease, oil, trash, and debris that could cause falls onto moving parts.
  • Dress Properly: Avoid loose clothing, gloves, neckties, or jewelry that could get caught in moving parts. Protective electrically non-conductive gloves, non-skid footwear, protective hair covering, safety goggles, and/or face shields are recommended.
  • Electrical Connection: The mixer is double insulated (Class II protection, IP44D rated), eliminating the need for a three-wire grounded power cord. An Residual Current Device (RCD) is recommended for 230V electrics. Extension cords should not exceed 50 meters in length and must have a wire section of at least 1.5mm² for 230V to ensure sufficient current flow. Only H07RN-F outdoor-specific extension cords should be used, fully unrolled to prevent overheating. Do not connect any core to the earth pin.
  • Operation: Do not start the motor if the drum is fully loaded. Do not turn the mixer off while full of concrete. Never leave the mixer running unattended. Do not attempt to move the mixer when it is loaded or in operation.
  • Loading/Mixing: For best results, add gravel, then cement, then sand, and finally water into the drum. Always start the mixer before loading the drum, and load it while the drum is rotating. Do not throw material into the mixer to avoid sticking; trickle it steadily over the ram.
  • Drum Tilting: The spring-loaded tipping wheel with locking lugs provides easy control of the drum, allowing it to be locked in mix, discharge, and stored positions. To tilt, withdraw the tipping wheel to disengage the locking lugs, then rotate the wheel and drum. To retain position, align the lugs with the slots, release the tipping wheel slightly while holding the drum, and rotate until the lugs engage.
  • Emptying: Do not turn the mixer off while full of load. Empty the drum with the drum rotating. Never put hands inside the drum while it is rotating.

Maintenance Features

  • Inspection: Before each use, check all bolts, nuts, and screws for tightness, especially those securing guards and drive mechanisms. Ensure guards are in place and working. Remove all adjusting tools, shovels, hand trowels, and other equipment from the mixer area before turning it on. Replace any damaged, missing, or failed parts, including warning labels.
  • Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the mixer immediately after each use. The IP44D protection class allows for safe hosing down of the drum assembly. Scrape out dried cement; do not use bricks, shovels, hammers, or other tools to break up accumulations, as this may damage the mixer. A mixture of 1" gravel and water can be scoured for approximately 2 minutes, then discharged, followed by hosing down the drum.
  • Electrical Maintenance: Never open the motor cover before unplugging the mixer from the power supply. Disconnect power when not in use, before moving, adjusting, changing parts, cleaning, or working on the mixer.
  • Drive Belt and Bearings: The drive belt is kept under constant, even tension by a spring-loaded jockey, requiring no adjustment other than occasional greasing of the spindle. The bearings are sealed for life.
  • Parts: Only the manufacturer's original replacement parts should be used for maintenance. The wiring diagram and parts schematic in the manual are for reference only; repairs and electrical component maintenance should only be performed by qualified technicians/electricians.
  • Storage: Store the mixer in a dry location when not in use to inhibit rust. Keep it away from children and unauthorized persons.
  • Environmental Protection: Dispose of leftover materials at an authorized collection point, following local regulations. Do not discharge into drains, soil, or water.
