11.1 Conventional descaling
• Prepare the descaling solution by following the
directions provided on the product package.
• With the machine off, remove the water tank,
empty it out and then fill it with the descaling
solution; fit the tank back into place in the
machine.
• Turn on the machine by pressing the ON/OFF
switch.
• Place an ample container beneath the steam
nozzle (14) and turn the hot water/steam knob
(16) anticlockwise; dispense about 3 dl of
descaling solution and turn the knob (16)
clockwise to shut off flow.
• Turn off the machine by pressing the ON/OFF
switch and allow the solution to act for about
15 minutes.
• Repeat the procedure until the tank has been
completely emptied of the descaling solution.
• After descaling the machine, thoroughly rinse
the water tank (9) and fill it with fresh drinking
water.
Turn the machine back on and thoroughly
rinse out the water lines by discharging water
(approx. 1.4 litres) from the steam nozzle (14)
as described in section 8. This serves to elimi-
nate any residues that might affect coffee
flavour.
• The machine is again ready for use. To clear
the message
DESCALING
press “ENT” to access the programming
mode.

• Quit the programming mode by pressing “ESC”.
11.2 Automatic descaling
• Prepare the descaling solution by following
the directions provided on the product
package.
• With the machine on, remove the water tank,
empty it out and then fill it with the descaling
solution; fit the tank back into place in the
machine.
• Press “ENT”. Press “

and enable it by pressing “ENT”.
• Place an ample container (min. 1 litre capacity)
beneath the steam nozzle (14) and turn the
hot water/steam knob (16) anticlockwise. The
machine will display the message:
MACHINE IS
DESCALING
and the automatic descaling program will start.
Descaling is carried out at intervals until the
display indicates:
DESCALING
FINISHED
• Turn the hot water/steam knob (16) clockwise
and press “ENT”.
The following message will appear:
RINSE MACHINE
FILL WATERTANK
Now thoroughly rinse the water tank, fill it with
fresh drinking water and fit it back in place in
the machine.
• Again place an ample container beneath the
steam nozzle (14) and turn the hot water/
steam knob (16) anticlockwise. Slowly draw
out all the contents of the tank through the
steam nozzle (14) until the machine displays
the message:
