Overview

This document is an installation and safety manual for the Galactic Xtreme 10x17 Trampoline.

Function Description:

The Galactic Xtreme 10x17 Trampoline is a recreational device designed for jumping and bouncing activities. It features a rectangular jumping mat, supported by numerous springs attached to a metal frame, and includes a safety enclosure net to prevent users from falling off. The trampoline is intended for outdoor use and provides a platform for physical activity and entertainment.

Important Technical Specifications:

The trampoline has a rectangular shape with dimensions of 10x17 feet. The frame is constructed from metal components, including L-leg frames (Part #1), L-leg connectors (Part #2), corner frames (Parts #3 and #4), short side rails (Part #5), and side rails (Part #10). The end leg supports (Part #15) and end leg support connectors (Part #16) provide stability.

The jumping mat (Part #22) is secured to the frame by a large number of springs (over 100, according to the manual). Spring pads (Parts #31, #32, #33) cover the springs and frame to enhance safety.

The safety enclosure system consists of net cups (Part #17), bottom net enclosure poles (Part #18, with 4 marked yellow for corner posts), top net enclosure poles (Part #19), fiberglass net rods (Part #20), a net enclosure (Part #21), and net enclosure sleeves (Part #23). The fiberglass net rods are assembled into sections (two 69" sections and two 134" sections for the long sides, and two 56" sections for the short sides) to form the top support for the net.

Hardware includes:

  • 2.75" bolts (13mm head) (Part #24) and 13mm nuts (Part #25) for frame assembly.
  • 1½" screws (Part #26) for connecting net enclosure poles.
  • 2¼" leg frame screws (Philips head) (Part #27) and 10mm nuts (Part #28) for end trampoline legs and net.
  • 1⅞" top net pole bolts (Philips head) (Part #30) for the net enclosure.

Usage Features:

The manual outlines a step-by-step installation process for the frame, jumping mat, and safety net.

  • Frame Assembly: Involves connecting L-leg frames and connectors, followed by corner frames and side rails, using bolts and nuts. Specific instructions are provided for the 10x17 model, noting the number of legs and side rails.
  • Jumping Mat Installation: Emphasizes a specific spring installation sequence to manage tension and prevent injury. Users are advised to wear protective eye goggles and use a spring tool. The manual warns against standing on the opposite side of the trampoline during spring installation due to high tension. It also suggests using a heavy-duty ratchet tie-down strap if tension is too high for manual spring attachment.
  • Spring Pad Installation: Spring pads are laid over the springs and frame, with some having Velcro straps or cloth loops to secure them.
  • Net Enclosure Installation: Involves connecting net poles, sleeving them with foam, and inserting them into the frame. The fiberglass net rods are then assembled and fed through the top of the net, secured with black electrical tape. The net is then hung into the black cups on top of the poles and secured to the mat's V-rings.
  • Safety Guidelines: The manual provides extensive safety instructions, including:
    • Always checking the trampoline before use for missing or worn parts.
    • Using the provided safety enclosure.
    • Ensuring only one person uses the trampoline at a time.
    • Supervising users of all skill levels.
    • Stopping if feeling unwell or dizzy.
    • Wearing appropriate clothing (no shoes).
    • Learning basic bounces at low heights first.
    • Avoiding somersaults/flips.
    • Keeping foreign objects away from the trampoline.
    • Not using the trampoline if wet or windy.
    • Restricting access when unsupervised (e.g., storing the ladder).
    • Assembling on grass or BSI approved safety matting.
    • Not using under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
    • Mounting and dismounting carefully, without jumping onto or off the frame/springs.
    • Staying in the center of the mat to avoid striking the spring frame.
    • Mastering basic maneuvers before attempting difficult ones.
  • Basic and Advanced Skills: The manual includes illustrated guides for basic skills like the Basic Bounce, Knee Drop, and Seat Drop, as well as advanced skills such as the Basic Bounce (hands and knees), Hands and Knees to Front Drop, and Front Drop. It strongly recommends consulting a trained instructor for advanced techniques.
  • Lesson Plan: A suggested lesson plan is provided to guide users through learning basic and advanced trampoline skills progressively, emphasizing safety and proper technique.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspection: Users are advised to always check the trampoline before use, paying specific attention to all bolts, the jump mat, and pad positions. It should not be used if any parts are missing or show wear and tear.
  • Spring Pad Care: Spring pads should be flipped every few months to keep them clean. UV protectant should be used to protect them from UV rays and sun exposure. In extremely hot areas, it is recommended to bring in soft parts (mat, pad, net) during hot months to extend their lifespan.
  • Weather Precautions: The trampoline should not be used when wet or windy. To avoid injury or damage, it is recommended to dismantle the trampoline during extreme weather.
  • Secure Rods: The fiberglass net rods should be securely taped with black electrical tape (4-5 layers) at all connections, including silver fittings, to prevent play and dropping.
  • Anchoring: The manual notes that the trampoline can flip and fly in wind, recommending the purchase of an anchor kit.
  • General Condition: Regular inspection for bent steel tubes, torn mats, loose or broken springs, and overall stability is crucial to prevent injuries.
