What to do if my GE AEC14 Air Conditioner does not start?
    • J
      Jamie HowellAug 2, 2025
If your GE Air Conditioner doesn't start, ensure it's fully plugged into the outlet. Also, check your house's fuse or circuit breaker and replace the fuse or reset the breaker if needed. After a power failure, the unit will restart automatically with the settings you last used. There is also a protective time delay of approximately 3 minutes to prevent tripping of the compressor overload. Finally, press the RESET button on the power cord plug. If the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

      Patricia HooverAug 7, 2025
If your GE Air Conditioner isn't cooling properly, make sure that curtains, blinds, or furniture aren't blocking the front of the unit. For models with touch pads: In the Cool mode, press the Decrease pad. For models with control knobs, turn the temperature knob to a higher number. Clean the filter at least every 30 days. Allow time for the room to cool down when the air conditioner is first turned on. Check for open furnace registers and cold air returns. See “Air conditioner freezing up” if cooling coils have iced up.
