Do you have a question about the GE AEH06 Series and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document provides information for a GE Appliances room air conditioner, specifically models AERO5, AEH06, and AEH08. It serves as an owner's manual, offering instructions for safe operation, usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The manual is presented in both English and French, with separate sections for each language.

The primary function of this device is to cool and dehumidify a room, providing comfort during warm weather. It is designed for window installation and offers various modes and fan speeds to suit different user preferences and environmental conditions.

Important Safety Information:

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions. It warns against using extension cords, as this could pose a risk of fire, serious injury, or death. If an extension cord is necessary, it must be an outdoor extension cord, and surge protectors or multi-outlet adaptors should not be used with the window air conditioner. Users are advised to read and follow all safety information carefully and save the instructions.

Technical Specifications:

The air conditioner models are designed for 115/120 Volts AC, 60 Hz, protected by a 15-amp time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. Some models may require a 230/208-volt AC, protected with a time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. These models should be installed on their own single branch circuits for best performance and to prevent overheating. The power cord includes a current interrupter device with a TEST and RESET button for safety. The dimensions for installation vary by model:

  • AERO5: 12 1/2" min. (A) and 23"-38" (B)
  • AEH06: 13 1/2" min. (A) and 22 1/2"-38" (B)
  • AEH08: 13 1/2" min. (A) and 22 1/2"-38" (B)

The device is equipped with R410A refrigerant, which requires specific tools and techniques for servicing.

Usage Features:

The air conditioner offers a range of controls for optimal comfort:

  • Power Pad: Turns the air conditioner ON and OFF.
  • Display: Shows the room temperature or time remaining on the Delay timer.
  • Temp Increase/Decrease Pads: Used to set the desired temperature.
  • Fan Speed Pads: Allows selection of fan speeds: Low, Med, High, or Auto.
  • Mode Control: Offers various modes:
    • Cool Mode: Provides cooling with different fan speeds (High Cool, Low Cool).
    • Energy Saver Mode: Cycles the fan ON and OFF with the compressor to save energy.
    • Fan Only Mode: Circulates air without cooling (Low, Med, High fan speeds).
  • Temperature Control: A rotary knob or digital display to set the desired temperature.
  • Delay 1-2-4hr Pad: Sets a delay for the unit to turn ON or OFF automatically after 1 to 24 hours.
  • Remote Control: Allows convenient operation from a distance, offering similar controls to the unit's control panel.

The unit features an electronic thermostat that maintains the room temperature at the set level. The fan speed automatically adjusts in Auto Fan speed mode to optimize cooling.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for efficient operation:

  • Grille and Case Cleaning: The air conditioner's grille and case should be cleaned periodically with water and a mild detergent. Abrasives or bleach should not be used.
  • Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter, located behind the front grille, should be checked and cleaned at least every 30 days or more often if necessary. To remove, pull the tab on the right side of the unit until the filter is out. To reinstall, slide the filter back into the grille. The filter can be cleaned with warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly.
  • Outdoor Coils Cleaning: The coils on the outdoor side of the air conditioner should be checked regularly. If they are clogged with dirt or soot, they may be professionally cleaned.
  • Remote Control Battery Replacement: The remote control uses two "AAA" (1.5 volt) alkaline batteries. Batteries should be inserted according to the polarity markings. Old and new batteries, or standard (carbon-zinc) and rechargeable (ni-cad, ni-mh, etc.) batteries, should not be mixed.

Troubleshooting Tips:

The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting section to help users diagnose and resolve common issues, such as the air conditioner not starting, not cooling effectively, freezing up, or the remote control not working. It also addresses normal operating sounds, which are not indicative of a malfunction.

Warranty Information:

GE Appliances offers a one-year limited warranty for parts and workmanship. The warranty covers any product defects in materials or workmanship from the date of original purchase. It does not cover issues caused by improper installation, delivery, maintenance, or damage from external factors.

This air conditioner is designed to provide comfortable indoor environments while emphasizing user safety and ease of maintenance.
