Also, check the current interrupter device; press the RESET button on the power cord plug. If the RESET button doesn't stay engaged, stop using the air conditioner and contact a qualified technician.

A dirty air filter can also cause this issue, so clean the filter at least every 30 days. If the room was hot when you turned on the unit, allow time for it to cool down. Check for open furnace registers and cold air returns where cold air might be escaping.
