    • J
      James MurphySep 7, 2025
If you notice black or gray marks on dishes in your GE Dishwasher, it's likely due to aluminum utensils rubbing against the dishes. You can remove these marks with a mild, abrasive cleaner.

How to prevent spots and filming on glasses and flatware in my GE GDF500-620 Dishwasher?
    • J
      jeremymyersDec 1, 2025
If you're noticing spots and filming on glasses and flatware in your GE Dishwasher, it could be due to several reasons. Extremely hard water can be a major factor, so consider using rinse agents like Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid, and if the water is extremely hard, a softener might be necessary. Low inlet water temperature can also contribute, so ensure it's at least 120°F (49°C). Overloading or improper loading of the dishwasher can prevent proper cleaning. Also, old or damp powder detergent may not be effective, so make sure your detergent is fresh and highly rated. Check if the rinse agent dispenser is empty and refill it if needed. Using too little or a low-performing detergent can also lead to spotting and filming, so ensure you're using the proper amount of a highly rated detergent. In...

Why are my dishes and flatware not clean in my GE Dishwasher?
    • D
      dhaleNov 20, 2025
If your GE Dishwasher isn't cleaning dishes and flatware properly, several factors could be at play. Check if the Ultra-Fine Filter or Fine Filter is clogged, and refer to the Care and Cleaning section for instructions. Ensure the inlet water temperature is correct by running the hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher until the temperature stops rising, then start the dishwasher. Low water pressure can also be a culprit, so check if water is coming out of the faucet more slowly than usual. Additionally, a clogged air gap or disposer, or an improperly installed high drain loop or air gap, can cause this issue. Proper rack loading is crucial; make sure large dishware isn't blocking the detergent dispenser or the wash arms, and position large utensils correctly in the silverware basket. Fina...

Why Sanitized light does not illuminate at the end of the cycle on GE Dishwasher?
    • W
      watkinsheatherSep 18, 2025
If the Sanitized light does not illuminate at the end of the cycle on your GE Dishwasher, it may be because the door was opened and the cycle was interrupted during the final rinse. Avoid interrupting the cycle by opening the door during the wash cycle. Also, the incoming water temperature may have been too low. Raise the water heater temperature to between 120°F and 150°F.

Why do control panel lights go off on GE GDF500-620 Dishwasher?
    • D
      Donald GreenSep 16, 2025
If the control panel lights on your GE Dishwasher go off while you're setting controls, it's because there's too much time between touching the selected buttons. Each pad must be touched within 30 seconds of the others. To relight the panel, touch any pad again or open the door and unlock it (top control).

Why is detergent left in dispenser cups of my GE GDF500-620?
    • J
      Jennifer JimenezSep 14, 2025
If you find detergent left in the dispenser cups of your GE Dishwasher, it's likely that dishes or utensils are blocking the detergent cup. Reposition the dishes to allow water from the lower spray arm to flush the detergent cup. Also, reposition tall utensils or heavy silverware that may be preventing the dispenser cup door from opening.

What to do if there are suds in my GE GDF500-620?
    • A
      Antonio RamosSep 12, 2025
If your GE Dishwasher has suds in the tub, it's likely due to using the wrong detergent or spilling rinse agent. To avoid sudsing, only use automatic dishwasher detergents; Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent is approved for use in all GE Appliances dishwashers. If suds are present, open the dishwasher and let them dissipate. Pump out the water by pressing Start and closing the door, wait 30 seconds, then open the door, press and hold Start for 3 seconds, and close the door. Repeat if necessary. Always wipe up rinse agent spills immediately.

How to remove white film on glassware from GE GDF500-620 Dishwasher?
    • G
      Gina CampbellSep 12, 2025
If you notice a white film on glassware, dishware, and the interior of your GE Dishwasher, it's likely caused by a low-quality phosphate-free dishwasher detergent. To remove the white film, run your dishes through a dishwasher cycle with citric acid. Use a WD35X151 citric acid kit found online. Otherwise, use Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner found at your local grocery store.

Why is water standing in the bottom of the tub of my GE GDF500-620 Dishwasher?
    • J
      Jeffrey BurnsSep 9, 2025
If you see water standing in the bottom of the tub of your GE Dishwasher, it could be due to a clogged air gap. Clean the air gap. Alternatively, a high drain loop or air gap may not be installed correctly. Refer to the Installation Instructions for proper drain line installation.

Why my GE GDF500-620 Dishwasher doesn’t dry dishes?
    • L
      lawrencehenryAug 23, 2025
If your GE Dishwasher is not drying dishes effectively, there are several possible causes. First, ensure that the inlet water temperature is at least 120°F. Selecting Heated Dry and Wash Temp Boost options can also help. Consider using a higher cycle setting, such as Wash Temp Sani, Sanitize Temp, or Heavy. Check the rinse agent dispenser and fill it if it's empty. If you're using a Light cycle, which uses lower water temperature, switch to a different cycle. Finally, allow the selected cycle to fully complete.
