How to fix a GE Dryer that shakes or makes noise?
    • I
      igarrettAug 29, 2025
If your GE Dryer shakes or makes noise, it might be sitting unevenly. Move the dryer to an even floor space, or adjust the leveling legs until it is stable.

Why does my GE Dryer keep tumbling after it's done?
    • N
      Nicole DickersonSep 22, 2025
If your GE Dryer continues to tumble after the display says Complete, it's likely that the Wrinkle Care option was selected. Ensure that the Wrinkle Care option is not selected if you want the dryer to stop completely after the cycle.

What to do if clothes are still damp after using the 'Dry' setting on my GE GFD55?
    • R
      reneearnoldAug 30, 2025
If the dryness level was chosen but the load in your GE Dryer is still damp, it could be due to a mixture of heavy and light fabrics in the load. When combining heavy and light fabrics, choose More Dry. Another potential cause is a blocked exhaust system, so inspect and clean it.

      Judy SmithAug 30, 2025
Your GE dryer may be shaking or making noise because it is sitting unevenly. To fix this, move the dryer to an even floor space, or adjust the leveling legs as necessary until it is even.

Why are clothes still wet in my GE GFD55 after a short time?
    • D
      David SimpsonAug 31, 2025
If clothes are still wet and the dryer shut off quickly, ensure that a dry cycle is re-selected each time a new load is put in, especially if the door was opened mid-cycle and a new load was added. If drying 3 items or less, choose QUICK DRY or TIMED DRY. If the load was already dry except for collars and waistbands, choose QUICK DRY or TIMED DRY to dry damp collars and waistbands, or choose More Dry in the future when drying a load with collars and waistbands. Check if the dryer is not level and move it to an even floor space or adjust the leveling legs as necessary.

Why are garments still wrinkled after a steam cycle in my GE GFD55?
    • J
      James GoodmanSep 23, 2025
If garments are still wrinkled after a steam cycle, try loading fewer garments and manually increasing the time. Also, ensure the lint filter is clean. For children's/infant garments, use the Steam Refresh cycle.

Why does my GE GFD55 Dryer continue to tumble after the display says Complete?
    • R
      riveramatthewSep 16, 2025
If your GE dryer continues to tumble after the display says 'Complete', ensure the Wrinkle Care option is not selected. For the Steam Refresh cycle, Wrinkle Care will automatically be turned on and cannot be turned off.

Why does my GE Dryer only show lights and no numbers during the cycle?
    • W
      wagnertravisSep 13, 2025
If your GE Dryer displays only lights and no numbers during a cycle, this is normal. The dryer is continuously monitoring the moisture in the clothes and will display the dry time remaining when it senses a low level of moisture.

Why do clothes take so long to dry in my GE GFD55?
    • C
      Carly MooreSep 1, 2025
Several factors can cause clothes to take too long to dry in your GE Dryer. Ensure the dryer venting is correct according to the Installation Instructions, and that the ducting is clean, free of kinks, and unobstructed. Also, check if the outside wall damper operates easily. Separate heavy items from lightweight items and avoid overloading. Match control settings to the load, and clean the lint filter before every load. Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers, remembering that some electric dryers use two. Finally, consider that the ecoDry feature extends dry times to save energy; disabling it may reduce drying time.

How to prevent lint on clothes in my GE GFD55 Dryer?
    • M
      Michael ChristianSep 2, 2025
If you find lint on your clothes after drying in your GE Dryer, make sure to clean the lint screen before each load. Sort lint producers (like chenille) from lint collectors (like corduroy). Static electricity can also attract lint. Avoid overloading the dryer, and always empty pockets to remove paper or tissue before laundering.
