What to do if clothes are still damp after using the 'Dry' setting on my GE GFV55?
    • E
      ewrightAug 30, 2025
If the dryness level was chosen but the load in your GE Dryer is still damp, it could be due to a mixture of heavy and light fabrics in the load. When combining heavy and light fabrics, choose More Dry. Another potential cause is a blocked exhaust system, so inspect and clean it.

Why are collars and waistbands still wet after my GE GFV55 cycle?
    • K
      Kimberly ClarkAug 29, 2025
If your GE Dryer leaves collars and waistbands still wet at the end of the cycle, it may be because the dryness monitor senses that the body of the clothes is dry. Choose QUICK DRY or TIMED DRY to dry damp collars and waistbands. When drying a load with collars and waistbands, choose More Dry in the future.

How to fix a GE GFV55 Dryer that shakes or makes noise?
    • A
      Alan GarciaAug 29, 2025
If your GE Dryer shakes or makes noise, it might be sitting unevenly. Move the dryer to an even floor space, or adjust the leveling legs until it is stable.

Why are clothes wrinkled after using my GE GFV55 Dryer?
    • T
      Tara BondSep 9, 2025
Clothes can be wrinkled after drying in your GE dryer due to overdrying (select a shorter drying time, remove items with a slight amount of moisture, or choose a Less Dry or Damp setting), letting items sit in the dryer after the cycle ends (remove items when the cycle ends and fold or hang immediately, or use the Wrinkle Care option), or overloading (separate large loads into smaller ones).

Why does my GE Dryer show 00 in Time Remaining while running?
    • R
      Rebecca ValdezSep 12, 2025
If your GE Dryer is running but displays '00' in Time Remaining, it's normal if the Wrinkle Care option is selected, as the time is not displayed during extended tumbling (approximately 60 minutes). Also, ensure the lint filter is clean. If not, clean it, dry a load on an automatic cycle, and verify that the light turns off. Improper or obstructed ducting can also cause this; check the Installation Instructions to ensure correct venting and that the ducting is clean and unobstructed. Dry a load on an automatic cycle and verify that the light turns off.

Why do greasy spots appear on clothes after drying in my GE Dryer?
    • G
      garystewartSep 15, 2025
Greasy spots on clothes after drying in your GE dryer can be caused by improper use of fabric softener, so follow the directions on the package. Use the dryer only to dry clean items, as drying dirty items with clean ones can cause stains. Sometimes stains that are not visible when clothes are wet appear after drying, so ensure proper washing procedures are followed before drying.

Why is there water on the floor in the back of my GE GFV55 Dryer?
    • E
      eatoncurtisSep 22, 2025
If you find water on the floor in the back of your dryer, check for a loose water hose connection and tighten it. Also, ensure the hose has a rubber washer at the connection with the valve; install the rubber washer provided with the hose if it's missing.

What to do if GE Dryer stops too early and clothes are still wet?
    • K
      Katie WolfAug 27, 2025
If clothes are still wet and the GE Dryer shuts off too soon, ensure a dry cycle is reselected each time a new load is put in. For small loads of 3 items or less, use QUICK DRY or TIMED DRY. If only collars and waistbands are damp, use QUICK DRY or TIMED DRY, or select More Dry for future loads with collars and waistbands. Also, make sure the dryer is level.

Why my GE GFV55 is not heating?
    • D
      Donna StuartAug 27, 2025
If your GE Dryer isn't heating, first check the building’s fuse/circuit breaker box and replace both fuses or reset both breakers, as some dryers use two. For gas models, ensure the gas shutoff at the dryer and the main shutoff are fully open, and that the LP gas supply tank isn't empty or there hasn't been a utility interruption. Also, verify that a heat temperature is selected, rather than a no heat setting.

What to do if my GE GFV55 Dryer doesn’t start?
    • A
      Andrea HallAug 26, 2025
If your GE dryer doesn’t start, first, press the Power button to activate the control panel if it's "asleep". Ensure the dryer is plugged completely into the outlet. Check the building’s fuse/circuit breaker box and replace the fuse or reset the breaker, noting that some electric dryers use two fuses/breakers. If the light on the Start/Pause pad is flashing, press Start/Pause to restart the countdown, as the dryer may have been accidentally paused when starting Delay Dry.
