Why are my clothes wrinkling in my GE GFW148?
    • D
      danny60Sep 14, 2025
Wrinkling can occur due to improper sorting. Avoid mixing heavy items with light items. Overloading the washer can also cause this, so ensure clothes have enough room to move freely. Select the correct wash cycle for the type of fabric you are washing, especially for easy-care loads, and wash in warm or cold water to prevent repeated washing in water that is too hot.

Why is my GE GFW148 making loud noises, vibrating, or shaking?
    • G
      Gregory WilliamsAug 25, 2025
If your GE Washer is making loud or unusual noises, vibrating, or shaking, several factors could be responsible. The washer is designed to move slightly (about 1/4 inch), which is normal. Ensure all rubber leveling legs are firmly touching the floor by pushing and pulling on the back of the washer to check for levelness, adjusting the legs as needed. An unbalanced load can also cause these issues; pause the unit, redistribute the load, and run a rinse and spin cycle without any clothes to check the machine. A clogged pump filter might also be the cause, so refer to the Care and Cleaning section for cleaning instructions.

What to do if my GE GFW148 Washer has no power or isn't working?
    • E
      Erin MartinezAug 26, 2025
If your GE Washer has no power or isn't working, first, ensure it's securely plugged into a working outlet. Check that both hot and cold water faucets are fully turned on. Inspect your house's circuit breakers or fuses, replacing any blown fuses or resetting tripped breakers; the washer should have a separate outlet. If it's the first time plugging in the washer, allow up to 20 seconds for automatic system checks to occur, which is normal.

Why are there colored spots on my clothes after washing in my GE Washer?
    • H
      Heather OlsonSep 7, 2025
If you notice colored spots on your clothes after washing in your GE Washer, it could be due to incorrect use of fabric softener; check the package instructions and follow the directions for using the dispenser. Dye transfer can also cause colored spots, so sort whites or lightly colored items from dark colors. Also, promptly remove the wash load from the washer.

How to get rid of bad odor inside my GE Washer?
    • A
      amanda81Sep 8, 2025
To address a bad odor inside your GE Washer, run a Tub Clean cycle, especially if the washer has been unused for a long time, if you're not using the recommended quality of HE detergent, or if you're using too much detergent. For strong odors, you may need to run the Tub Clean cycle more than once. Use only the amount of detergent recommended on the detergent container and ensure it is HE (high efficiency) detergent. Always remove wet items promptly after the machine stops and leave the door slightly open for the washer to air dry. Supervise children if they are near the appliance, and do not allow them to play on or in it.

Why is the pump running on my GE Washer when it is not in use?
    • D
      Danny JohnsonSep 23, 2025
This is normal. The drain sump is detecting an undesired water fill level from a potential open faucet. Shut off the water valve and inspect the water valve for blockage.

How to fix a GE GFW148 Washer that has no power?
    • R
      Robert RileyAug 31, 2025
If your GE Washer has no power or isn't working, first ensure the cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check that both hot and cold water supplies are fully turned on. Also, check your house's circuit breakers or fuses, replacing any blown fuses or resetting tripped breakers. Remember that the washer should have a separate outlet. What to do if water does not enter GE Washer or enters slowly?
    • J
      jason58Sep 1, 2025
If water doesn't enter your GE Washer or enters slowly, it may be due to several reasons. The washer performs system checks after pressing Start. Ensure the water supply is turned on fully, and that fill hoses are not kinked or clogged. Clean the water valve screens and inlet hose screen washers by turning off the water source, disconnecting the hoses, cleaning the screens with a brush or toothpick, and then reconnecting the hoses. Also, the washer door must be closed for all cycle operations. Make sure that the fill hoses connect the hot water supply to the hot inlet and the cold water supply to the cold inlet.
