What to do if the Thermal Circuit Breaker (TCB) tripped on GE On-line VH?

If the Thermal Circuit Breaker (TCB) tripped on your GE UPS, it could be due to an overload. Try reducing the load and then reset the TCB. Alternatively, a system failure may have occurred, in which case you should contact your dealer or consult www.gecriticalpower.com.

Why does my GE On-line VH switch off automatically?
R
Ricardo VargasAug 8, 2025
Your GE UPS might automatically switch off due to several reasons:
* It may be overheating, in which case you should allow the UPS to cool down.
* A mains failure could have occurred and the battery discharged, so wait until the mains returns.
* A programmed shutdown might be in progress, refer to section 4.4.11.
* If the load is less than 5% of the maximum load and no mains power is present, the no-load shutdown function may be active; wait until the mains returns.

What to do if GE On-line VH will not switch on?

Rebecca GreenAug 13, 2025
If your GE UPS won't switch on (without using 'battery start') and the output has been off for a few seconds, consider these possibilities:
* The line cord might not be connected properly; refer to section 3.4.3 to connect it.
* The wall socket might be dead, or the mains voltage is out of limits; contact a qualified electrician.
* The Thermal Circuit Breaker might have tripped; check the solutions for that problem.

Why are the ‘alarm’ and ‘on battery’ LEDs blinking on my GE UPS?
B
bennettjessicaAug 20, 2025
If the ‘alarm’ and ‘on battery’ LEDs are blinking, and the buzzer sounds every 1/5 seconds on your GE UPS, it could be due to:
* A battery test just after installation or a mains failure; allow the UPS to recharge the batteries.
* A battery test showing a weak battery; in this case, have the batteries replaced.

How to fix blinking ‘operation’ and ‘alarm’ LEDs on GE On-line VH UPS?
K
Katherine HillAug 27, 2025
If the ‘operation’ and ‘alarm’ LEDs blink and the buzzer sounds every 1/2 seconds, and the UPS does not start, it indicates that the Phase (P) and Neutral (N) are reversed at the UPS input in a system with grounded Neutral. In a system with grounded Neutral: reverse the mains plug. In other systems: disable the indication. See sections 4.4.13 and 4.5. In case of doubt contact a qualified electrician.
