USING THE WEATHER BAND
Weather information is given continuously from U.S. Government Weather
Stations on frequencies from 162.4MHz to 162.55MHz.
The Weather transmissions, broadcast 24 hours a day, are taped messages
that are repeated every 4to 6 minutes and revised and updated as needed to
match the changing weather conditions. For additional information, check
your local office of the National Weather Service (Department of Commerce).
IMPORTANT: The listening range of NOAA weather stations varies
from 10 miles up to a maximum of 40 miles from the station's transmitter
In some areas of the United States, weather transmissions cannot be
monitored. The effective range of this radio will have side variations due
to the height of the local transmitting antenna, atmospheric conditions,
and the terrain between the transmitter and your radio's location.
If a weather station is operating in your area, you can listen to weather
forecasts by using the WEATHER button on the top of the radio.
#
1. Press the WEATHER button on th top of the radio. The red WEATHER
BAND indicator is lit.
2. Slide the CHANNEL switch on the back of the unit to the channel that
receives the clearest signal from your local weather station (if one is
available).
NOTE: Due to the broadcast characteristics of weather transmissions, you
may notice a reduction in the volume level of your radio when turning on
the Weather band. Readjust the volume to your preferred listening level.
