Why is my GE UVC9300 Ventilation Hood fan making loud noises?
    • M
      Michelle BrayAug 14, 2025
Loud or abnormal airflow noise in your GE Ventilation Hood can occur due to several reasons: * There may be obstructions in the duct work. Ensure nothing is blocking the vent and that your wall or roof cap has a blade or door. * The damper blade on the wall or roof cap may not be open. Make sure the damper swings freely and adjust it to its original position if the blades have flipped. * The metal grease filter and charcoal filter (if present) may be dirty. Clean the metal grease filter and replace the charcoal filter. * Insufficient makeup (replacement) air may be the issue. Ensure sufficient makeup air is available for exhausting appliances. Check with local building codes regarding makeup air requirements.

If your GE Ventilation Hood fan turns on automatically and cannot be turned off, this is normal. The sensor feature is designed to automatically activate the fan if the cooking temperature becomes too high. The fan will turn off once the temperature cools down to an appropriate level.

      Alexander ChoiSep 5, 2025
Loud or abnormal airflow noise in your GE Ventilation Hood may be due to an incorrect duct size used during installation. This hood requires 8” ducting for optimal performance; smaller duct pipes can reduce venting. Minimize the duct run length and the number of transitions and elbows. Note that GE Appliances service technicians cannot correct this issue if the hood was improperly installed.
