Why does my Generac Portable Products 1540-0 Pressure Washer pump have low pressure?
    • H
      Heather AlexanderAug 9, 2025
If the Generac Portable Products Pressure Washer pump is failing to produce pressure, has erratic pressure, chatters, loses pressure, or has low water volume, several issues could be the cause. You may have a low-pressure nozzle installed, in which case you should replace it with a high-pressure nozzle. The water inlet might be blocked and needs clearing. Ensure an adequate water supply. Check for a kinked or leaking inlet hose, and straighten or patch it as needed. Inspect and clean the inlet hose strainer if it's clogged. The water supply should be cooler than 100°F. Clear any blockages in the high-pressure hose or replace the gun if it leaks. Clean the nozzle if obstructed. If none of these steps work, the pump may be faulty, and you should contact a Generac service facility.

    • P

If your Generac Portable Products Pressure Washer engine will not start or starts and runs rough, check the following: * Ensure the oil level is adequate and fill the crankcase to the proper level if it's low. * Clean or replace the air cleaner if it's dirty. * Make sure the fuel tank is filled with gasoline, and if the gasoline is stale, drain the tank and fill it with fresh fuel. * Verify the spark plug wire is connected to the spark plug, and replace the spark plug if it's bad. * If there's water in the gasoline, drain the tank and fill it with fresh fuel. * If the engine is overchoking, open the choke fully and crank the engine. For excessively rich fuel mixture, stuck intake valve, or lost engine compression, contact a Honda service facility.
