Site Preparation and Generator Placement

Clear and Prepare Generator Area

Clear a 5-1/2 ft by 5 ft area, lay poly-film, and fill with gravel or crushed stone.

Position Generator and Grounding

Place generator on prepared pad and drive grounding rod, connecting it with a grounding strap.

Electrical Connection to External Box

Drill and Feed Conduit

Drill a 1-3/4 inch hole and feed the pre-wired conduit through the wall to the outside.

Connect Wiring and Mount Box

Connect wires to lugs, attach grounding wire, and mount the external connection box securely.

System Readiness and Testing

Install Circuit Breaker

Install the 40 or 70 Amp double pole circuit breaker into your main electrical panel.

Connect Starting Battery

Connect positive and negative battery cables, ensuring the generator's switch is in the OFF position.

Prepare for Automatic Operation

Set breakers to 'on', generator switch to 'AUTO', and verify fuel valve is open.

Test Generator Operation

Simulate power loss to test automatic start and load transfer, then simulate power return for cooldown.

Set Exerciser Timer

Set the exerciser timer to schedule weekly automatic generator testing.
