Overview

This document is the user and maintenance manual for the GENPOWER GBG 15i Gasoline Generator. It provides comprehensive information on the generator's features, operation, and maintenance to ensure safe and efficient use.

Function Description:

The GENPOWER GBG 15i is a gasoline-powered generator designed to provide electrical power. It is suitable for various applications, offering a portable and reliable power source. The generator is equipped with an oil level sensor to prevent engine damage in case of low oil, and it features an economy switch for optimizing fuel consumption and noise levels based on the load type. It also includes circuit breakers for protection against overload and short circuits. The generator is designed for manual operation and requires proper grounding when in use.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: GBG 15i
  • Engine Type: OHV, Single Cylinder, Forced Air Cooled, Four Stroke
  • Displacement: 60 cc
  • Ignition: TCI
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 5 Liters (1 gallon)
  • Oil Capacity: 0.4 Liters
  • Frequency: 50 Hz
  • Voltage: 230 V
  • Rated Output Power: 1.3 kVA
  • Max. Output Power: 1.5 kVA
  • Dimensions (L x W x H): 338 mm x 330 mm x 342 mm
  • Phase: Single Phase
  • Net Weight: 13 Kg

Usage Features:

  • Easy Start-up: The generator features an Engine Switch with OFF/ON/CHOKE positions for starting. The "CHOKE" position is used for starting a cold engine, while "ON" is for normal operation.
  • USB Outlets: Equipped with a 5 VDC, 1/2.1 Amp USB outlet for charging compatible electronic devices.
  • Economy Switch: Offers two modes of operation:
    • ON: Quietest mode, best for resistive loads (e.g., TV, video game, light radio).
    • OFF: Best for both inductive and resistive loads, especially when loads are turning on and off (e.g., RV, air conditioner, hairdryer).
  • Status Lights: Includes an OVERLOAD LED (Red) to indicate system overload, a LOW OIL LEVEL LED (Yellow) to signal low oil, and a POWER LED (Green) to indicate output from the generator.
  • Circuit Breakers: AC outputs are protected by circuit breakers that trip in case of overload or short circuit, preventing damage.
  • Fuel Recommendations: Uses unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 77. It is recommended to use fresh fuel and avoid gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol.
  • Grounding: The generator is equipped with an equipment ground connecting the frame and AC receptacle ground pin.
  • Load Management: Users are advised to calculate the total wattage of connected devices to prevent overloading, considering that some electric motors require significantly more power for starting. A "Wattage Reference Guide" is provided to assist in this.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Oil Checks: Engine oil level should be checked regularly (every 5 hours of operation or daily).
  • Oil Change Schedule: Oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 working hours under normal conditions, or every 25 hours under heavy load/high temperatures. Oil should also be changed before storage.
  • Air Filter Maintenance: The air cleaner should be checked occasionally for excessive dirt and cleaned as per instructions (removing the pre-cleaner and washing it with liquid detergent and water).
  • Spark Plug Maintenance: The spark plug should be inspected, cleaned, and gapped (0.6-0.7 mm or 0.024-0.028 in) every 100 operating hours or every season. Replacement is recommended if electrodes are pitted, burned, or porcelain is cracked.
  • Muffler and Spark Arrestor: The muffler should be inspected for cracks, corrosion, or damage. The spark arrestor screen should be inspected and cleaned every 50 hours of operation or every season.
  • Valve Clearance: Valve clearance should be checked after the first 50 hours of operation and adjusted as necessary (Intake: 0.10 +/- 0.02 mm; Exhaust: 0.10 +/- 0.02 mm). This service should be performed by an authorized service dealer.
  • Generator Cleaning: The generator should be cleaned daily or before each use to remove dirt and debris, ensuring cooling air openings are unobstructed. Water jet washing is not recommended.
  • Storage Preparation: For storage longer than 30 days, the fuel system should be prepared by adding fuel stabilizer or draining the fuel. The engine oil should be changed, and the cylinder should be lubricated. The generator should be stored in a clean, dry area away from heat and ignition sources.
  • Authorized Service: Genpower emphasizes that maintenance and repairs should only be performed by authorized personnel to maintain warranty validity and ensure safety. Original spare parts are recommended.
