Assembly Instructions:
The assembly process is designed to be straightforward, ideally with two people.
-
Step 1: Frame Expansion:
- Remove the frame from the carry bag and stand it upright.
- With a partner on the opposite 10' side, hold the two outer legs, lift the frame slightly off the ground, and walk backward a few steps to extend the frame approximately 4 feet.
- For smoother operation, place the canopy top over the frame before fully extending.
- Carefully pull the frame apart.
-
Step 2: Canopy Attachment:
- Use the hook and loop strips on the canopy to secure each corner to the corresponding hook and loop strips already attached to the frame.
- The canopy top is now attached to the frame.
-
Step 3: Full Frame Extension:
- Grab the bottom of the middle frame section (forming a "V" shape), lift the frame slightly, and walk backward until the frame is fully extended.
- With both people holding the "X" truss on opposite sides, expand it until it touches the eaves of the top, being careful not to pinch hands or fingers.
-
Step 4: Locking the Legs:
- Partially fold back the canopy at each corner.
- Hold the leg frame with one hand and lift the slider with the other.
- Depress the button while pushing the slider up until it passes over the locking button.
- Return the folded corner of the canopy to its proper position.
-
Step 5: Height Adjustment and Securing:
- Adjustable Legs: The legs offer multiple height levels. To adjust, lift the leg and pull the inner leg until the bottom pops into place. Repeat for all legs, ensuring they are at the same height and fully locked.
- Canopy Tightening: Tighten the eave panels of the canopy to the frame by attaching the clips on the inside of the canopy top to the frame.
- Staking: Stake out the bottom of the legs using the provided steel hook stakes.
- Wind Stability: In windy conditions, use the nail stakes and guy lines for extra stability. The recommended stake placement involves an angle of approximately 40 degrees, with stakes placed about 48 inches from the leg base.
Disassembly and Storage:
- Step 6: Folding and Storage:
- Use the opposite process of assembly to fold the canopy.
- Place the canopy inside the carry bag for easy transport and storage.
- Warning: The canopy top should be removed from the frame before fully collapsing the frame to prevent damage to the material.
Important Warnings and Cautions:
- Frame Damage: Never force the frame open or closed, as this can result in broken cross pieces.
- Initial Setup: It is strongly suggested to set up the canopy before initial use to ensure all parts are present and to familiarize yourself with the assembly process.
- Wind and Rain: The canopy is highly susceptible to damage from high winds and heavy rain.
- Take every precaution to prevent damage.
- In hard surfaces (driveways, concrete), weights (sandbags or bricks) can be used in place of stakes. Gigatent brand Canopy Weights are recommended (sold separately).
- Care must be taken to ensure water does not collect on the canopy top during heavy rain, as this added weight can damage the frame.
- To reduce the risk of water collection, either detach the canopy from the frame and allow it to fall inside the frame, or take the canopy down entirely.
- Do not leave the canopy unattended in windy or rainy conditions. Ensure all stakes and guy lines are secure and tight.
- UV Exposure: This product is not designed for prolonged exposure to sunlight. Extended UV exposure will rapidly break down the color and integrity of the fabric, and UV damage is not covered under warranty.
- Fire Safety:
- NEVER leave burning fire unattended near the canopy.
- Keep all flame and heat away from the product.
- This product is NOT fireproof. If left too close to an open flame, the product will burn or be severely damaged.
- Use caution when using a propane stove near the product, as unintended fire may result in damage or bodily harm.
- Canopy Attachment during Collapse: Do not collapse the frame with the canopy top attached, as this can damage the fabric. Always remove the canopy top before fully collapsing the frame.
Maintenance Features:
- Seam Sealing: Gigatent suggests sealing the seams with a product like McNett's Seam Sure to prevent moisture from penetrating through the needle holes. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.
- Cleaning:
- NEVER machine wash the canopy, as this can damage the waterproof coating.
- Hand wash with a mild soap and rinse with clean water.
- Allow to COMPLETELY dry before storing.
- For extremely dirty canopies, they can be set up and washed like a car, or washed in a bathtub using hands to agitate the water or a soft brush.
- Storage:
- DO NOT store the canopy wet or damp, as mildew will quickly destroy its waterproof coating.
- Allow the canopy to dry completely before storing it in a cool, dry place.
- Structural Integrity: Regularly check the stakes and guy lines, especially during windy or rainy conditions, to ensure they are secure and tight. Loosening can lead to structural failure and water collection.
