Motor makes noise but
does not run or runs
slowly.
Low voltage. Check with voltmeter.
Unit is plugged into an extension cord.
Remove extension cord or use larger
gauge extension cord.
Motor winding short-circuited or open. Replace motor.
Faulty check valve or unloader. Replace or repair.
Fuses blow / Circuit
breaker trips
repeatedly.
Incorrect fuse size, circuit overloaded. Check for proper fuse, use a timed fuse.
Unit is plugged into an extension cord.
Remove the extension cord or use a
heavier gauge extension cord.
Faulty check valve or unloader. Replace or repair.
Thermal overload
protector repeatedly
turns o.
Low voltage. Check with a voltmeter.
Clogged air ller.
Clean the ller (see Maintenance
section).
Lack of adequate ventilation / ambient
temperature too high.
Move the compressor to a well-
ventilated area.
Unit is plugged into an extension cord. Remove the extension cord.
Air tank pressure drops
when compressor
shuts o
Loose connections (ttings, tubing, etc.).
Check all connections with a soap and
water solution and tighten them.
Loose drain valve. Tighten the drain valve.
Check valve for leaks.
Disassemble the check valve assembly,
clean or replace it.
Check tank for cracks or crevices.
Replace the reservoir. Never repair a
damaged reservoir.
CAUTION: If there is air in the
reservoir, bleed the reservoir rst.
Excessive humidity in
exhaust air
Excess water in the air reservoir. Drainage tank.
High humidity. Move to an area with less humidity.
