This document describes the Gorenje FTG 30-100 E5 electric water heater, a device designed for domestic hot water supply. The manual provides instructions for installation, use, and maintenance across multiple languages, including German, English, Croatian/Bosnian, Macedonian, Slovenian, Albanian, and Serbian.
Function Description
The Gorenje FTG 30-100 E5 is an electric water heater designed to provide hot water for household use. It operates by heating water stored in a tank, with various models offering different capacities (30, 50, 80, and 100 liters). The device is equipped with an "EcoSmart" electronic regulator, which allows for temperature adjustment, display of water temperature, error diagnostics, and smart operation to reduce electricity consumption.
Key functions include:
- Temperature Regulation: Users can set the desired water temperature, with preset levels for frost protection (approx. 10 °C), 35 °C, 57 °C (Eco mode), and 75 °C. The "EcoSmart" mode is recommended for optimal energy efficiency, maintaining water at approximately 57 °C to minimize scale formation and heat loss.
- EcoSmart Operation: This mode is suitable for users with consistent hot water needs (e.g., daily showering at the same time). The electronic regulator records usage patterns over 7 days and then operates intelligently to heat water according to these habits, reducing electricity consumption. A green control light indicates when "EcoSmart" mode is active or recording.
- Anti-Legionella Function: If the water in the heater does not reach 65 °C within 14 days, the anti-legionella function automatically activates, heating the water to 70 °C and maintaining it for 120 minutes to prevent bacterial growth.
- Error Indication: The device features an indicator (display 1) that flashes control lights to signal various errors, such as temperature sensor failure (E1), overheating (E5), or dry start (E44). Solutions are provided for each error, including contacting service or refilling the heater with water.

Usage Features
The water heater is designed for user-friendly operation:
- Initial Setup: After connecting to the water and electrical networks, the heater is ready for use. Upon power-up, it enters standby mode, maintaining water at 10 °C.
- Switching On/Off: The heater is switched on by pressing button 2 for 3 seconds. A prolonged press of the same button will return it to standby mode.
- Temperature Setting: The desired temperature can be set by repeatedly pressing button 2. The display (1) shows the current or set temperature.
- Frost Protection: If the heater is not used for an extended period, it's recommended to set the temperature to "*" (frost protection) to maintain water at 10 °C and prevent freezing.
- EcoSmart Activation: To activate the "EcoSmart" recording mode, press button 4. The green control light (3) will flash during the 7-day recording period. Once recording is complete, the heater will automatically operate in "EcoSmart" mode, indicated by a steady green light. To interrupt or deactivate "EcoSmart" mode, press button 4 again.
- Water Drainage: If the heater needs to be disconnected from the electrical network due to freezing risk, the water must be drained. For vertically mounted heaters, water drains through the inlet pipe. For horizontally mounted heaters, drainage must be performed by an authorized service.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of the water heater:
- External Cleaning: The exterior of the heater should be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild liquid detergents suitable for lacquered surfaces. Abrasive cleaners or those containing alcohol should not be used.
- Regular Service Checks: To ensure flawless and long-term operation, regular service checks are necessary. The warranty for corrosion of the tank is only valid if prescribed regular inspections of the protective anti-corrosion anode have been carried out.
- Anode Inspection: Authorized service personnel will inspect the wear of the anti-corrosion anode and, if necessary, clean limescale from inside the tank. The frequency of these checks depends on water quality, quantity, and temperature.
- Professional Repair: Any repairs or interventions inside the water heater (e.g., lime removal, anode replacement) must be performed by an authorized service provider. Users are advised not to attempt repairs themselves and to contact the nearest authorized service for any malfunctions.
- Disposal and Recycling: The product is designed with environmentally and health-friendly components that can be easily disassembled and recycled at the end of their lifespan. Recycling materials reduces waste and the need for new raw materials, saving energy and reducing harmful emissions. Information on waste disposal systems can be obtained from local waste collection centers or the retailer.
