If possible, never run the battery completely
flat, because this can shorten its service life. We
recommend that you recharge the batteries at the
latest with a residual charge of about 20%.
During winter storage, the ideal charge level of
the batteries is between 30 and 60%. This must be
checked once a month by starting your Schwalbe and,
if necessary, charging the battery so that the batteries
remain constantly in the optimal range.
The batteries work at temperatures from -8 to +40°
Celsius. For your North Pole expedition you better get
a dog sled, in pretty much all other climate zones you
can drive your Schwalbe.
By the way, charging is possible at battery cell
temperatures between +5° and +40° Celsius. In winter
we recommend to charge your Schwalbe directly after
the trip while the cells are still warm.
Sophisticated electronics and the state-of-the-art
battery management system protect the batteries from
cold and overheating and thus ensure a long service
life. At cell temperatures below -8° Celsius, maximum
performance is limited to protect the batteries. The
speed is reduced and as soon as the cells gradually
warm up, the system allows for higher speeds again.
In contrast to the cold, the "Save-my-Scooter" function
protects the batteries from overheating.
After a certain cell temperature, this results in a
reduction in power and an extended charging time, as
the battery has to cool down a little before it can be
charged. Then it's just the time to take a little break in
the shade. The additional "open brackets" at the top of
the energy consumption indicator in the display shows
that the performance is limited temporarily (chapter
05).
The disc brakes should be retracted gently so that
they perform optimally in the long term. If possible,
try to brakecarefully for the first 200 km.
