4.14 Mower
Drive Belt:
If
belt
squeals
when
PTO
Control
is
properly
engaged,
check
adjustment
of
belt. If squeals
contj-nue'
belt
may reguire
replacernent.

2. Loosen
the
beLt finqers
at the
PTO
sheave
and turn iler,
away from
the
sheave.
3.
Remove
the hair
pin
or coLter
pin
securing
the
brake
band and rotate
the
band away
from the sheave.
4.
Raise the mower
to
its
mid
posit-ion
and remove
the
mower
belt
from
the
PTO
sheave;1ower
the
mower and
remove the
belt
from
mower.
Replacement:
1. Position
the
replacement
mower
belt
around the sheave
on
the
mower. Reposition
the
brake band around
the sheave
and secure
with
the cotter
or
hair
pin.
2.
Raise the
mower
to its
center
position
and
install the
mower
belt
around
the
PTO
sheave.
Ad
ju
stment:
Adjust
mower belt for
proper
center
distance.
Adjust nuts
on adjustor
rod to
move mower forward
or rearward.
Adjust
for I
inch clearance
between
belt with
iTower
in hiqhest
position.
With the
mower
belt
adjusted and the
PTO
"OFF",
ad;ust the
nut on. the end
of
the
brake rod until the spring
is
7
/8"
in
length.
