4. Rotate HOC wheel so the lowest cutting
position is indicated (reset dial position if
necessary):
5. Tighten belt tensioner.
Adjust HOC Belt Tension
(Figure 36)
1. Loosen the outer lock nut on the HOC
belt tensioner.
2. Loosen the inner lock nut enough to
allow the tensioner to move.
3. Using a spring scale or similar tool,
position the tensioner to where 2.3 – 3.2
kg (5 – 7 lbs) of force is applied to the
HOC belt.
4. Tighten the inner lock nut.
5. Tighten the outer lock nut.
CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT
If clutch fails to engage or disengage properly
or begins to make abnormal noise, check the
air gap adjustment at the three inspection
slots (Figure 37).
To check:
1. Stop engine, remove key and wait for all
hot parts to cool.
2. Measure air gap between armature and
rotor.
• Minimum: A 0.4 mm (.016") feeler
gauge should slide between armature
and rotor with slight contact.
• Maximum: A 0.5 mm (.020") feeler
gauge should slide between armature
and rotor with slight contact.
3. Repeat for each inspection slot.
To adjust:
1. If necessary, loosen gap adjustment
nuts until a 0.4 mm (.016") feeler gauge
fits between armature and rotor.
2. Slide a 0.5 mm (.020") feeler gauge
between armature and rotor.
3. Tighten gap adjustment nut until there is
slight contact on feeler gauge.
4. Repeat steps 1 – 3 at each inspection
slot.
NOTICE: Adjust air gap as evenly as
possible.
5. Start unit, engage and disengage PTO.
6. Shut off unit.
7. Recheck air gap and adjust if needed.
