Why is my Gree Air Conditioner cooling or heating effect is poor?
    • E
      Edward Carrillo DVMAug 20, 2025
If your Gree Air Conditioner isn't cooling or heating effectively, several factors could be at play. First, check the air filter; a clogged filter is a common culprit, so clean it. Ensure the dampers are fully opened. Inspect the fins for clogs or damage and clean or repair them as needed. Finally, if water temperature for cooling is too high or low, adjust it accordingly.

    • W
      William LucasAug 22, 2025
If your Gree Air Conditioner is making unusual noises, several issues could be responsible. Start by checking the air filter and cleaning it if it's clogged. Inspect for any foreign objects near the inlet/outlet or inside the duct and remove them. Also, ensure that all fastening screws are tightened. If the noise persists, the volute or blade may be deformed, requiring replacement. Another potential cause is a motor issue, which would also necessitate replacement.

If water is leaking from your Gree Air Conditioner, several factors could be the cause. A clogged condensate pipe is a common issue, so try cleaning the drain pipe. Ensure the unit is installed correctly, maintaining a slight inclination. High environmental air humidity can also lead to leaks, so consider dehumidifying the room. If the fan stops but cold water continues to supply, close the water dampers or run the unit. Lastly, check that the discharge valve is tightened properly.

Overview

This document is a user manual for Gree FCU Cassette Units, which are air conditioning units designed for comfort air conditioning. The manual provides detailed instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance of the units, ensuring users can master and correctly use the product to achieve the expected operating effect.

Function Description

The Gree FCU Cassette Units operate by circulating cold or hot water through a heat exchanger. Air passes over the surface of this heat exchanger, allowing for heat exchange that conditions the air temperature and humidity. The unit itself does not generate cold or hot sources; its running mode is determined by the environment temperature and the main unit's operating mode.

Key protective functions are integrated into the unit:

  • Protection against hot air: In cooling mode, if the water temperature becomes too high, the fan will stop to prevent the unit from blowing out hot air.
  • Protection against cold air: In heating mode, if the water temperature drops too low, the fan will stop to prevent the unit from blowing out cold air.
  • Memory function: The unit is equipped with a memory function that retains certain settings, such as mode, fan speed, fan swing, and temperature settings, in the event of a power failure.

The unit is designed for use in various settings, including shops, light industry, farms, and commercial or household environments. It is crucial to install the unit in appropriate locations, avoiding areas with strong heat sources, vapors, flammable or explosive gases, volatile objects, high-frequency devices, coastal areas, oil or fumes, sulfureted gas, or other special circumstances that could cause malfunction, shortened service life, fire hazards, or severe injuries.

Usage Features

The FCU Cassette Units can be controlled via a remote controller or a wired controller. The manual outlines the steps for emergency operation if both controllers are lost. In such cases, the unit can be started or stopped by pressing the "AUTO" button for three seconds. The default operation condition in emergency mode is cooling, automatic fan speed, air swing, and 24°C. Subsequent presses of the "AUTO" button will cycle through cooling, dehumidification, air supply, and heating modes.

The unit is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the safe use of the appliance by a responsible person. Children aged 8 years and above can use the appliance under supervision and after understanding the hazards involved. Children should not play with the appliance.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential for the optimal performance and longevity of the FCU Cassette Units. The manual provides detailed instructions for cleaning the filter screen and the air inlet grille.

Filter Screen Cleaning:

  1. Loosen the screws and open the grille.
  2. Pull the air screen downwards to detach it from the buckles and remove the filter screen.
  3. Clean the filter screen using a dust collector or water. For heavily soiled screens, a warm (less than 45°C) detergent solution can be used. After cleaning, dry it in the shade. It is important not to use hot water above 45°C, as this can de-color or deform the filter screen, and not to bake it over fire, which could cause fire or deformation.
  4. Reinstall the air filter by pushing it into the inner side of the air inlet grille through the four buckles.
  5. Close the air inlet grille.

Air Inlet Grille Cleaning:

  1. Open the air inlet grille.
  2. Remove the air filter.
  3. Turn the air inlet grille to a 45° angle and remove it.
  4. Rinse the air inlet grille with neutral detergent and warm water if it is dirty. Dry it in the shade. Avoid using hot water.
  5. Reinstall the air inlet grille.
  6. Reinstall the air filter.
  7. Close the air inlet grille.

The cleaning frequency for the filter screen should be increased to about once every half year if the unit operates in a dusty environment.

Before seasonal use, users should check if the air inlet and outlet are clogged, if the unit is reliably grounded, and if the air filter is installed properly. If the unit has been stopped for a long time, it should be powered on 6 hours before starting. After seasonal use, the air filter should be cleaned, and the power supply to the unit should be cut off.

The manual also includes a troubleshooting section to help users identify and resolve common issues such as the unit not running, abnormal noise, low airflow rate, poor cooling/heating effect, and water leaks. This section provides possible causes for each symptom and corresponding corrective measures, such as repowering the unit, tightening power plugs, replacing motors or blades, cleaning filters, removing foreign matters, and adjusting water temperatures.
