Overview

This document is an owner's manual for a GREE Split Air Conditioner, providing instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance. The manual emphasizes safety precautions due to the use of R32 flammable refrigerant.

Function Description:

The GREE Split Air Conditioner is designed for cooling and heating (for heat pump models) indoor spaces. It utilizes R32 refrigerant, which is described as a non-polluting refrigerant with good thermodynamic features, leading to high energy efficiency and a lower filling requirement compared to common refrigerants. The unit's primary function is to regulate indoor temperature, providing comfort through its cooling and heating capabilities. The manual outlines the proper procedures for installation, including fixing the outdoor unit support, installing the drain joint, securing the outdoor unit, connecting indoor and outdoor pipes, connecting electrical wiring, and neatening the pipes. It also details test and operation procedures, including vacuuming the system, checking for leaks, and performing a test run.

Important Technical Specifications:

The manual lists various models with their corresponding cooling capacities and recommended air switch capacities.

  • Refrigerant: R32 (flammable gas)
  • Minimum Room Area: Specified in table 'a' based on charge amount (kg) and installation type (floor, window, wall, ceiling mounted). For example, a charge amount of 1.3kg requires a minimum floor area of 14.5m², window mounted 5.2m², wall mounted 1.6m², and ceiling mounted 1.1m².
  • Connection Pipe Lengths:
    • Standard: 5m, 7.5m, 8m.
    • Minimum: No limitation for 5m standard pipe; 3m for 7.5m and 8m standard pipes.
    • Maximum: Varies by cooling capacity. For example, 5000Btu/h (1465W) to 9000Btu/h (2637W) have a max length of 15m. 12000Btu/h (3516W) has a max length of 20m. 18000Btu/h (5274W) to 24000Btu/h (7032W) have a max length of 25m. 28000Btu/h (8204W) to 48000Btu/h (14064W) have a max length of 30m.
  • Additional Refrigerant Charging Amount for R32: Varies by piping size and whether the unit is cooling-only or cooling and heating. For example, a 1/4" liquid pipe requires 16g/m for cooling-only and 16g/m for cooling and heating. A 3/8" liquid pipe requires 40g/m for cooling-only and 40g/m for cooling and heating.
  • Hex Nut Diameter and Tightening Torque:
    • 1/4": 15-20 N·m
    • 3/8": 30-40 N·m
    • 1/2": 45-55 N·m
    • 5/8": 60-65 N·m
    • 3/4": 70-75 N·m
  • Outdoor Unit Installation Height: At least 3cm above the floor for drain joint installation (no less than 20cm for models with heating tube).
  • Expansion Screws for Outdoor Unit: 6 for 2300W-5000W cooling capacity; 8 for 6000W-8000W; 10 for 10000W-16000W.
  • Operating Temperature Range (Indoor DB/WB (°C) / Outdoor DB/WB (°C)):
    • General Models: Max cooling 32/23 / 43/26; Max heating 27/- / 24/18.
    • Low-temperature cooling only unit: -15°C~43°C (outdoor).
    • Low-temperature heat pump unit: -22°C~43°C (outdoor).
    • Specific models (GWH07QB-K6DNB2E, etc.): Cooling only -15°C~43°C; heat pump -15°C~43°C.
    • Specific models (GWH18YE-S6DBA2A, etc.): Max cooling 32/23 / 52/32; Max heating 27/- / 24/18. Cooling only -18°C~52°C; Low-temperature heat pump -30°C~52°C.
    • Specific models (GWC09ACC-K6DNA1C, etc.): Cooling only 18°C~48°C.
    • Specific model (GWC24ACE-K6DNA1A): Cooling only -15°C~48°C.
    • Specific models (GWH09UB-K6DNA4A, etc.): Max cooling 32/23 / 54/32; Max heating 27/- / 24/18. Cooling only -18°C~54°C; heat pump -30°C~54°C.
  • Air Switch Capacity: Varies by model and capacity. Examples: 10A for 07K, 09K, 12K models; 13A for GWH12QB-K6DNB4Y/O; 16A for 12K, 18K models; 25A for 24K models.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: Requires qualified professionals and adherence to national wiring regulations and local safety standards. Proper grounding is essential to prevent electric shock.
  • Operation: The unit is operated via a remote controller. Users can select modes such as AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN, and HEAT.
  • Safety: The manual highlights the importance of not blocking air inlets or outlets, not spilling water on the remote controller, and not using fire or hair dryers to dry filters. It also warns against stepping on the outdoor unit or placing heavy objects on it.
  • Refrigerant Handling: Emphasizes that refrigerant recovery, discharge, and filling must be handled by certified professionals in compliance with local laws and regulations. Only R32 refrigerant should be used, and different types of refrigerant should not be mixed.
  • Pipe Expanding: Detailed steps are provided for cutting and expanding pipes to prevent refrigerant leakage, including ensuring a 90° cut and avoiding leaning, uneven, or burred edges.

Maintenance Features:

  • Professional Maintenance: Installation or maintenance must be performed by qualified professionals. Any repairs by unqualified personnel are dangerous.
  • Power Disconnection: Always disconnect the power supply before any work related to electricity, safety, or cleaning.
  • Cleaning: Do not wash the air conditioner with water or spray water on the indoor unit to avoid electric shock or malfunction.
  • Filter Maintenance: After removing the filter, do not touch the fins to avoid injury. Do not use fire or hair dryers to dry the filter.
  • Leakage Detection: Leak tests are mandatory after installation and when removing the unit. Both leakage detectors and soap water can be used to check for leaks.
  • Ventilation: Maintenance areas must be well-ventilated, and continuous ventilation should be maintained during operation.
  • Fire Safety: Prohibits naked flames in the maintenance area and requires "no smoking" warning boards.
  • Warning Marks: Appliance marks should be in good condition; vague or damaged marks should be replaced.
  • Refrigerant System Welding: Specific steps must be followed for cutting or welding refrigerant system pipes, including shutting down the unit, eliminating refrigerant, vacuuming, cleaning with N2 gas, and carrying back to a service spot for welding.
  • Troubleshooting: If phenomena such as overheating power cord, abnormal sound, frequent circuit breaker trips, burning smell, or indoor unit leakage occur, the air conditioner should be turned off, power disconnected, and a dealer or qualified professional contacted immediately.
