General Safety Information
Only qualified personnel should install this fan.
Personnel should have a clear understanding of these
instructions and should be aware of general safety
precautions. Improper installation can result in electric
shock, possible injury due to coming in contact with
moving parts, as well as other potential hazards.
Other considerations may be required if seismic
activity is present. If more information is needed,
contact a licensed professional engineer before
moving forward.
1. Follow all local electrical and safety codes, as
well as the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the
National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), where
applicable. Follow the Canadian Electric Code
(CEC) in Canada.
2. The rotation of the wheel is critical. It must be free
to rotate without striking or rubbing any stationary
objects.
3. Motor must be securely and adequately grounded.
4. Do not spin fan wheel faster than max cataloged
fan RPM. Adjustments to fan speed significantly
effects motor load. If the fan RPM is changed, the
motor current should be checked to make sure it is
not exceeding the motor nameplate amps.
5. Do not allow the power cable to kink or come in
contact with oil, grease, hot surfaces or chemicals.
Replace cord immediately if damaged.
6. Verify that the power source is compatible with the
equipment.
7. Never open access doors to a duct while the fan is
running.
DANGER
Always disconnect, lock and tag power source
before installing or servicing. Failure to disconnect
power source can result in fire, shock or serious
injury.
CAUTION
When servicing the fan, motor may be hot enough
to cause pain or injury. Allow motor to cool before
servicing.
CAUTION
Precaution should be taken in explosive
atmospheres.
DANGER
ATTENTION
Faire preuve de précaution dans les atmosphères
explosives.

How to fix excessive noise in my Greenheck USFD-100 Fan?
    • K
      Kelly GreeneAug 13, 2025
Excessive noise in your Greenheck Fan can stem from several issues. The wheel might be rubbing against the inlet; in this case, adjust the wheel or inlet cone, and tighten the wheel hub or bearing collars on the shaft. For V-belt drive problems, tighten sheaves on the motor/fan shaft, adjust belt tension, properly align the sheaves, and replace any worn belts or sheaves. If the bearings are the source, replace any defective bearings, lubricate them, and tighten collars and fasteners. Finally, an unbalanced wheel can cause noise, so clean any dirt off the wheel and check its balance.

What to do if my Greenheck Fan has a high motor amp draw?
    • S
      Steven MeyerAug 17, 2025
A high motor amp draw in your Greenheck Fan can be due to issues with the fan itself or the duct system. For the fan, check the wheel rotation and reduce the fan speed. Regarding the duct system, consider resizing the ductwork and verify the proper operation of isolation and bypass dampers. Also, inspect the filters and access doors.

Why does my Greenheck USFD-100 have low CFM?
    • L
      Lisa JohnsonAug 20, 2025
Low CFM in your Greenheck Fan could be due to fan or duct system issues. Check the wheel for correct rotation. It may also be caused by higher pressure than designed within the duct system or filters that need replacement.

What to do if my Greenheck Fan doesn’t operate?
    • J
      Justin GoodwinAug 25, 2025
If your Greenheck Fan isn't operating, first check the electrical supply, including fuses/circuit breakers, switches (ensure they're on and connected), and the correct supply voltage. Then, inspect the drive for broken belts and tighten any loose pulleys. Lastly, make sure the motor is the correct horsepower and not tripping the overload protector.

Why does my Greenheck USFD-100 Fan have high CFM?
    • M
      Matthew BuckAug 28, 2025
High CFM in your Greenheck Fan may be caused by fan or duct system issues. Try decreasing the fan speed. In the duct system, consider resizing the ductwork, and ensure that access doors, filters, and dampers are properly installed.

How to correct wrong static pressure in my Greenheck USFD-100 system?
    • J
      Jeffrey Rodriguez Jr.Sep 1, 2025
If the static pressure is wrong in your Greenheck Fan system, it may be because the duct system has more or less restriction than anticipated. Remove any obstructions in the system. Use a correction factor to adjust for temperature/altitude. Resize the ductwork if needed. Clean the filters/coils or change the fan speed.

How to reduce excessive vibration in my Greenheck USFD-100?
    • J
      Jeffrey WoodardSep 4, 2025
Excessive vibration in your Greenheck Fan can be caused by belts or system unbalance. If it's a belt issue, adjust the tightness of the belts and ensure replacement belts are a matched set. If it's a system unbalance, check the alignment of the shaft, motor, and pulleys. Note that adjustable pitch pulleys with motors over 15 hp are especially prone to unbalance. Also, check the wheel balance and rebalance if necessary.

What causes an overheated bearing in a Greenheck Fan?
    • L
      Laura HamiltonSep 8, 2025
An overheated bearing in your Greenheck Fan can be due to lubrication or mechanical issues. Check for excessive or insufficient grease in the bearing. If the issue is mechanical, replace any damaged bearings, relieve excessive belt tension, align the bearings, and check for a bent shaft.
