Why does my GreenWorks Tools ST40L210 stop while cutting?
    • K
      Kyle MasonAug 5, 2025
Your GreenWorks Tools Trimmer might stop while cutting due to several reasons. The guard might not be mounted, leading to motor overload. Ensure the guard is properly mounted. Using heavy cutting line can also cause this; use only nylon cutting line 0.080" diameter or less. Grass wrapped around the motor shaft or trimmer head can cause the issue, so stop the trimmer, remove the battery, and clear any grass. The motor could be overloaded; remove the trimmer head from the grass to allow it to recover. If the battery pack or trimmer is too hot, allow them to cool down. Also, verify the battery pack is correctly installed and charged.

What to do if GreenWorks Tools Trimmer fails to start?
    • A
      April ManningAug 9, 2025
If your GreenWorks Tools Trimmer fails to start, there are several potential causes. First, ensure the battery pack is properly attached to the trimmer. Check for and correct any lack of electrical contact between the trimmer and battery by removing and reinstalling the battery pack. A depleted battery pack will also prevent starting, so charge it. Finally, make sure you are pressing down the lock-off lever and holding it while depressing the trigger to turn on the string trimmer.

If grass is wrapping around the trimmer head and motor housing of your GreenWorks Tools Trimmer, it's likely due to cutting tall grass at ground level. Cut tall grass from the top down, removing no more than 8 inches in each pass to prevent wrapping.

Why won't the line advance on my GreenWorks Tools ST40L210 Trimmer?
    • L
      Lauren SchwartzAug 25, 2025
If the line won't advance on your GreenWorks Tools Trimmer, consider these possibilities: 1. The lines may be welded together, in which case you should lubricate them with silicone spray. 2. There might not be enough line on the spool. 3. The lines could be worn too short – try pulling both lines while pressing the button. 4. The lines might be tangled on the spool.

Why does the line keep breaking on my GreenWorks Tools ST40L210 Trimmer?
    • M
      Michele JonesAug 30, 2025
If the line on your GreenWorks Tools Trimmer keeps breaking, it might be due to incorrect usage. Only trim with the tip of the line, avoiding stones, walls, and other hard objects. Feed the line regularly to maintain full cutting width.
