4.3 Installing the bypass valve
Valve location
For the greatest effect, the bypass valve must
be located beneath a faucet with the greatest
pipe distance from the water heater. If your
home has a branched hot water line, more than
one bypass valve may be necessary.
Disconnecting the risers
1. Close the angle stop valves for the hot and
cold water below the sink; see fig. 3.
2. Disconnect the risers; see fig. 4.

Do not use Teflon
®
tape or pipe joint
compound, that is pipe dope, on the
valve threads.
Tighten the flex hose connections by
hand, plus 1/4 turn with a wrench.
Overtightening the flex hose
connections can result in damage to
the bypass valve, causing the valve to
leak, and in localized water damage.
Use only the flex hoses provided in
this kit. Using other manufactured flex
hoses could result in damage to the
bypass valve and void the product
warranty.
When connecting pipes, be sure to
follow the pipe manufacturer's
recommendations and all code
requirements for pipe material.
Typically, the hot water is on the left
side and the cold water is on the right
side, when looking at the sink.
