OTHER
METHODS
OF
RECORDING
MUSICAL
BROADCASTS
You
may
have
noticed
some
sounds
on
the
tape
in
addition
to
the
actual
broadcast:
coughs,
perhaps,
or
the
sound
of
yourself
whistling.
Obviously
this
is
because
the
Microphone
in
front
of
the
radio
loudspeaker
can
pick
up
noises
from
other
sources
than
the
radio.
You
might
feel
that
the
quality
of
the
recording,
while
good,
could
be
bettered
(this
is
probably
because
the
room
in
which
you
are
recording
is
absorbing
and
playing
tricks
with
the
sound
coming
from
the
radio
speaker).
This
is
where
the
two
other
methods
mentioned
at
the
beginning
of
this
section
come
in—
By
connecting
the
TK
20
to
a
lead
from
the
extension
loud-
speaker
socket
on
the
back
of
the
radio.
By
means
of
a
Diode
Connection.
Both
are
methods
whereby
the
radio
is
connected
directly
to
the
tape
recorder
without
using
a
microphone.
In
both
cases
the
room
conditions
or
extraneous
noises
are
avoided.
In
both
cases
you
require
a
special
lead.
It
has
a
plug
at
one
end
which
fits
into
the
socket
marked
)
(method
b)
or
YJ
(method
c)
on
the
back
panel
of the
TK20
and
two
small plugs
at
the other
end
which
fit
into
the
“Extension
Loudspeaker’
socket
on
the
back
of
the
radio
(or
a
similar
three
pin
plug
when
used
in
con-
junction
with
a
Grundig
Radio,
fitted
with
a
Diode
output).
The
actual
recording
of
a
radio
programme
by
these
methods
is
the
same
as
for
microphone
recordings
except
that
the
Input
Selector
button
marked
§
is
used
for
method
b
or
[Jf
for
method
ec.
You
may,
if
you
wish,
switch
on
the
internal
loudspeaker
of
your
TK20
whilst
you
are
actually
recording.
Push
down
the
knurled
knob
(B)
and
rotate
it
clockwise.
It
is
now
acting
as
Volume
Control
for
the
loudspeaker
of
your
TK20,
but
it
does
not
in-
fluence
the
quality
of
its
recording.

HOW
TO
PUT
GRAMOPHONE
RECORDS
ON
TAPE
*
%
It
should
be
pointed
out
that
the
taping
of
a
gramophone
disc
is
an
infringement
of
the
copyright
held
by
the
manufacturers
of
that
disc.
Many
people,
however,
do
have
disc
records
on
which
no
copyright
exists
and
which
they
may
wish
to
record.
Here
is
the
method.
Connect
the
leads
from
the
P/U arm
to
a
Grundig
three
pin
plug
(your
Grundig
dealer
can
supply
it)
and
insert
it
in
the
socket
marked
§
in
the
back
panel
of
the
TK20.
Start
the
record
player
and
switch
on
the
TK20.
Push
Input
Selector
button
£)
and
hold
it
down
while
setting
the
recording
level
(watch
the
Magic
Eye).
When
this
is
set,
turn
Selector
Switch
(C)
to
position
&,
still
holding
Input
Selector
button
down.
This
will
now
remain
locked
and
the
TK20
will
start
to
record.
Leave
it
running,
return
Pick-Up
arm
to
the
beginning
of
the
disc
and
note
the
numeral
reading
on
the
Position
Indicator
when
the
disc
begins
to
play.
Playing
back
the
tape
through
a
Radio
Amplifier
or
Radiogram,
and
adding
an
extension
Loudspeaker
to
the
TK20
If
you
wish
to
play-back
your
tape
through
the
pick-up
sockets
of
your
radio,
an
additional
amplifier
or
a
radiogram,
then
connect
them
to
the
red
and
black
terminals
of
the
Output
lead
type
SL
33
(obtainable
from
your
Grundig
dealer).
The
three
pin
plug
of
this
lead
should
then
be
connected
to
the
Output
Socket
sy
at
the
back
of
your
TK20.
From
the
yellow
and
black
terminals
of
the
cable
type
SL
33
a
Low
Impedance
Output
is
available
which
can
be
connected
to
an
Extension
Loudspeaker;
all
other
controls
still
carry
out
their
normal
function.
When
you
have
finished
recording—
Rewind
the
tape
by
setting
Selector
Switch
(C)
to
position
—.
Stop
the
Rewind
by
setting
Selector
Switch
(C)
to
position
O
(red
circle).
Playback
by
setting
Selector
Switch
(C)
to
position
