Grundig TK 245 - Recording Procedures; Preparations for Recording; Monitoring Recordings; Recording Process

For better understanding of the following, please open the folder of
this booklet as the heavy-print terms used in the text correspond to
‘those on page 3.
The tape recorder must not be operated with the fid on, Ensure that
the tape recorder is located on a fiat surface, so that sufficient ventile-
ion is provided for the motor through the bottom grill,
The recess in the bottom of the TK 245 will accomodate the mains lead.
There you may also keep your accessories, The lid of the recess may
be half opened. By overloading the joints the lid will become detached
from the tape recorder, To refit the lid, place the two pivot pins into
the respective notches, By tilting the lid, the pivot pins will lock home
again.
Before connecting the tepe recorder to the wall socket, please check
whether current and voltage of your raom are the same as those of
your tape recorder. When operating your tape recorder for the first
time please proceed as indicated on the package.

Switching on
By adjusting desired tane speed through speed switch the machine Is
switched on, which is indicated by the pllot bulb.
Threading the tape
Place the empty spool on the right-hand spindle. Hold the full spool in
your left hand, pull out approximately 1 foot of tape and then place
the full spool on the left-hand clutch spindie, The end of the tape must
now be attached to the empty spool, which is very simple but make sure
that the tape Is not twisted. Drop the tape into the sound channel and
pass it between the flanges of the empty spool.
Now turn the empty spoot anti-clockwise, keeping one finger on the
end of the tape, until all the coloursd guide tape and the metallised
strip is fully wound round the hub of the spool.
Position indicator
By pressing the button of the position indicator, the counter is now set
_ to zero (0000), At the beginning of every recording you should note the
figures indicated by the position indicator. (The same applies at the
end with any remaining tape.) On playback operation re-set again to
zero (0000), after having threaded the tape. Henceforth every desired
title is found by winding the tape forward.

Mise sous tension
La mise sous tension s'effectue en plagant le commutateur de vitesse
sur la position désirée; Ja tampe de contrdle s'aliume.
Mise en place de fa bande
Une bobine pleine sera piacée sur fe plateau de gauche, une bobine
vide sur celui de droite. Ensuite, introduire env. 20cm de oande. vier
droite et tendue, dans la fente de guidage. Aprés un quart de tour dans.
le sens contraire des aiguilles d'une montre, tirer l'extrémita libre de ia +
bance dans ia fente d'embobinage de ia bobine vide, L'extramité de la
bance amorce, dénessent de te bobine, doit atre aussi court que
possible; elle sera maintenue en la pressant contre fe dessus de le
Dobine, tout en tousnant celle-ci & la main jusqu’a ce que la bende
amorce et la pertie métallique de ia bande soient embobinges,
Compteur
Le compteur sera mis 2 9000 en eppuyant sur ta touche de remise &
zéro. En plus du titre de vos enragistrements, il convient de noter les
chiffres du compteur correspondent au début du morceau (et a sa fin
sil reste de fa bande pour effectuer d'autres enregistrements). Pour "s
reproduction, le compteur sera rernis & 0000 aprés la mise en piece de
la bande, Ensuite, les chiffres du compteur vous permettent de retrouver
aiednent n'importe quel passage en faisant défiler ja bande en avance
rapide.

Nun soilen Sie aber gleich ihre erste Aufnahme probieren. Die Abbitdun-
gen zeigen Ihnen dabei analag zum Text die Reihenfolge der Bedienung
Die richtigen Anschidsse, wie auf Selte 6 beschrieben, werden voraus-
gesetzt.
Vorbereitungen :
Wollen Sie in Mono aufnekmen, so stelten Sie den Spurschalter aur
1-2, bei Stereo auf S. Dis genave Bedeutung dessen brauchen Sie erst
spater zu wissen. Es wird auf Seite 14 erklart.
Den Eingangswahler steilsn Sis bei Sadicaufnahme, Platten- oder Band
Uberspielung euf FO und bei Mikrofonaumahme aut © (eneprechend

Als Nachstes dricken Sie die Aufnahmetaste “ax. Dadurch stellt sich dao
Gerat bei einer kurzen Probe auf den zu erwartencen Pegel ein. Dee
geschieht z. B. bei Runafunkauinahme enhand der laufenden Sencung
‘oder einer Ansage. Bet Mikrofonauinahme ist die laureste Steile aires
Diaioges oder Musikstickes tu proben. Bei Platie- oder Sancubersoie-
lung ist eine Fortesteile enzuspicien. Danach gehen Sie noch einms
zurtick in die Ginlaufrilie bzw. en den Bandanfang des wiedergebenden
Gerates.
Kontroilméglichkeit
Besonders bei Mikrofonauinshmen emofiehlt sich das sogenannte .Mit-
horen*. Dabei kontoliieren Sie unverzégert den Pegel.: der im gigichen
Augenblick auf das Sand auigezeichnet wird. Sie konnen dadur
feststellen, weon sich eine Singstimme zu wenig von der Begieitmus:k
abhebt.
Aufnahme
Sobald Sie dle Starttaste drucken, ius das Band an. Die Aufzeichrung
erfolgt dann vcllautamatisch in bestméglicher Qualitat, Des richtige
Arbelten der Aussteuerungsautomatik kann man am Magischen Band
sehen.
Kurze Unterbrechungen
Bei Aufoshme (2. 3. von Musiksendungen zum Ausblenden einer An-
sage) und ei Wiederoabe kénnen Sie den Bandiauf kurz anhalten, wenn
