Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the haacon S/DK and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The document describes a range of Haacon landing gears, primarily designed for supporting uncoupled trailers and adjusting their height during coupling. The manual covers various models, including S/DK, S/VK, S/DS, and S/DZ, with specific instructions for operation, maintenance, and safety in multiple languages.

Function Description

Haacon landing gears are designed to be mounted on a trailer vehicle. Their primary function is to support the uncoupled trailer, ensuring stability when it's not connected to a tractor. They also facilitate height adjustment during the coupling and uncoupling processes, making it easier to connect or disconnect the trailer. The S/DZ type, in particular, is used for adjusting the drawbar height. These landing gears are not standalone devices; they must be operated in conjunction with the operating manuals of both the tractor and trailer vehicles. Operation with damaged landing gears is strictly forbidden.

Important Technical Specifications

The technical specifications are detailed in a table, covering various models and their capacities. Key specifications include:

  • Dynamic Load (Zulässige Last: Dynamisch / Admissible load: Dynamic): This refers to the maximum dynamic load the landing gear can handle. For models like S/DK870, S/DK900, S/VK850, and S/VK800, it's 10 tons. For S/DS615, S/DS750, and S/DZ600, it's 2 tons.
  • Static Test Load (Statische Prüflast / Static test load): This indicates the static load capacity. For S/DK870, S/DK900, S/VK850, and S/VK800, it's 20 tons. For S/DS615, S/DS750, and S/DZ600, it's 5 tons.
  • Dynamic Pull Load (Dynamisch Zug / Dynamic pull): This specifies the dynamic load under tension. For S/DK870, S/DK900, S/VK850, and S/VK800, it's 2 tons. For S/DS615, S/DS750, and S/DZ600, it's 2 tons.
  • Static Pull Load (Stat. Last Zug / Static pull load): This indicates the static load under tension. For S/DK870, S/DK900, S/VK850, and S/VK800, it's 5 tons. For S/DS615, S/DS750, and S/DZ600, it's 5 tons.
  • Lift / Crank Turn (Hub / Kurbel-umdrehung): This refers to the lift per crank turn. For S/DK870, S/DK900, S/VK850, and S/VK800, it's 6.1 mm. For S/DS615, S/DS750, and S/DZ600, it's 6.1 mm.
  • Low Gear (Lastgang / Low gear): The number of crank turns per unit of lift in low gear. For S/DK870, S/DK900, S/VK850, and S/VK800, it's 1 turn. For S/DS615, S/DS750, and S/DZ600, it's 1 turn.
  • Fast Gear (Schnellgang / Fast gear): The number of crank turns per unit of lift in fast gear. For S/DK870, S/DK900, S/VK850, and S/VK800, it's 20 turns. For S/DS615, S/DS750, and S/DZ600, it's 20 turns.
  • Max. Crank Force (Max. Kurbel-druck / Max. crank force): The maximum force required on the crank. For S/DK870, S/DK900, S/VK850, and S/VK800, it's 225 N. For S/DS615, S/DS750, and S/DZ600, it's 240 N.
  • Operating Temperature (Einsatz-temperatur / Working temperature): The recommended operating temperature range is -20 to +50 °C.
  • Weight (Gewicht ca. / Weight approx.): The approximate weight of the landing gear. For S/DK870, S/DK900, S/VK850, and S/VK800, it's 43 kg. For S/DS615, S/DS750, and S/DZ600, it's 32 kg.

Usage Features

The landing gears offer both high-speed and low-speed operation modes, controlled by a crank handle.

  • High Gear (Schnellgang): Used for quick extension and retraction when the landing gear is not under load, primarily to bridge the distance to the ground. To engage high gear, the crank handle is pulled out until the catch engages. A slight turning movement can facilitate this.
  • Low Gear (Lastgang): Used for raising and lowering loaded or unloaded trailer vehicles. To engage low gear, the crank handle is pushed in until the catch engages. This mode provides more leverage for heavy loads. It is crucial to switch to low gear before the foot touches the ground when extending, and to remain in low gear when raising or lowering the trailer under load.
  • Swiveling Support (Typ S/DS): These models can be swiveled from a transport position to a working position by pulling a safety bolt, rotating the support, and then re-securing it with the bolt.
  • Telescopic Drop Type Support: Some models feature a telescopic drop tube that can be extended by manipulating a securing bolt or spring-loaded lever. This allows for additional length adjustment. It is critical to only release the lock bolt when the support is unloaded and to guide the drop tube by hand, preventing it from falling freely into the end position. Personnel must keep clear of the danger area.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential for the safe and reliable operation of Haacon landing gears.

  • Inspection: The landing gear must be inspected at least once a year by a qualified person (expert according to TRBS 1203). Inspections are also required before initial commissioning, after significant modifications, and after extraordinary events (e.g., accidents, prolonged non-use). These inspections must be documented. Visual inspections for cracks and deformation should be performed with every use, and any damage should be repaired immediately.
  • Cleaning: The landing gear should be cleaned as part of normal vehicle care. It is explicitly stated not to use high-pressure cleaners directly on the landing gear.
  • Lubrication: The landing gear is pre-filled with long-lasting grease and does not require connection to a central lubrication system. A grease nipple on the external tube allows for re-greasing the spindle. Depending on usage frequency, the spindle must be re-greased regularly, at least every three months. For lubrication, the landing gear should be fully extended and then slowly retracted while applying grease. If gear parts, spindles, or nuts are replaced, re-greasing is necessary.
    • Lubrication Schedule:
      • Items 1, 2, 3 (Thread flanks and bearings): Fill with Rhenus LFC 2 or KP 2 K-30 grease.
      • Items 4, 5 (Bearings): Fill with 250-300g of Rhenus LFC 2 or KP 2 K-30 grease.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues:
    • Spindle support not extractable/retractable: Possible causes include a faulty spindle or gearbox, or a bent outer or inner tube. The remedy is to repair the spindle support.
    • Spindle support stops lifting before reaching the ground: Indicates the wrong gear is shifted. The remedy is to shift into low gear.
    • Gear change not possible: Suggests a faulty gearbox. The remedy is to repair the spindle support.
    • Drop tube does not move: Indicates jammed telescopic tubes. The remedy is to repair the spindle support.
  • Spare Parts: Only genuine spare parts should be used. Spare part drawings can be obtained from Haacon's website or by contacting them directly with the type and order number.
  • Dismantling and Waste Disposal: Dismantling should only be performed by skilled personnel, observing all safety instructions. The device and its components must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner according to applicable regulations.
